Sure, maybe indirectly. It was expanded to 10 for ratings, because ratings have been slipping, not because of TDK or Wall-E.

I kinda see your point but from 1936-1943 10 films were nominated. So yeah there has been, what, 65 years of 5 films being nominated, so it's kind of a tradition but going back to 10 isn't really anything new or anything to be surprised at.

No. It started out with three, then went to five for three years, then went to 12 or so and then went to 10 for 7 years before reverting back to 5 and now it's reverting back to 10.
