Let’s hope they don’t forget to include the fantastic Teaser Trailer narrated by Linda Hunt, edited by Angus Wall, and with Sound Design by Ren Klyce, only available in the “SuperBit” Edition DVD:

This was narrated by Linda Hunt too? Sounds like the same voice.

It does sound like her.

Fincher used Hunt because one of his favorite movies is Peter Weir's "The Year of Living Dangerously" (BD long overdue), which stars her and also has her narration.

No trailers at all? Odd, as Sony like to add them to their 4K releases, even Social Network had them on the 4K as they were left off of the 2-disc Blu set. Is there certain music or something that would cost too much to clear?

The news just made my year. The commentaries and documentaries sound incredible and are completely unexpected. IMOP, the case art is very cool and interesting, and a fitting design. Have no doubts about Sony being able to make this one of the best AV quality releases of the year, especially with Fincher heading it up. Looks like the steel will come with a slipcover, and with the Sony tax, I think this is $45 U.S. Don't sleep on it though, because Sony has been known to go with lower production runs. The demand on this title is very high. I can easily see it selling out at full MSRP.

If you don't like the price or the case art, or just don't want the 3 disc option, you can have your standard release 4-6 months after this one sells out, however long that takes.

This long rumored released finally gets announced and it's a steelbook only release? Ugh. I'll wait for standard or not bother. Steelbooks are just an excuse for studios to charge more now because it's "collectible" when I don't want to collect them.

I don't think so. I hope it's only due to the complete list of original extras from the 3-DVD SE being too long for the press release.

Even that only had one trailer, not the teaser.

In the US/Canada yes, it was also on the rest of the world’s single disc non-SE edition and promoted on the back cover as being created by David Fincher.

I saw this in the theater and that's it. I probably never would have wanted to own it or watch it again but all the wishing for it here over the years has me leaning towards getting this lol.

Am I the only one who thought Criterion might release this. After The Game, I thought they'd try to release a few more Fincher films. Zodiac seemed most likely due to some rumors online, but I thought this one was also a possibility. I guess they don't really plan to release anymore of films from him.

It'd be nice if they rescued the Netflix Fincher movies from streaming purgatory.

Rebuttal: Mank is one of Fincher's best movies.

I think even Fincher's less artistically successful films like Benjamin Button are still pretty damn good. He's not done a bad movie.

It's amusing that his least interesting movies, The Social Network and Benjamin Button were Oscar nominees, but not his greats (Seven, Fight Club and Zodiac). Just shows how blind the academy is.
