Man, that is freakin' sweet! I already own both on PS2 and have a backwards compatible PS3, but I'll be picking this up for sure just for trophies. Plus people without a BC PS3 can play these games to prep them for the awesomeness that will be GoW 3. Sweet! Good move Sony.

Me too. I really wish they would release a whole new SSX game for PS3 that plays similar to SSX 3. It would be gorgeous.

Definitely picking this up. GOW 1 & 2 are some of the few PS2 games I have left. I was playing the first GOW again the other day thinking how awesome it would look in HD.

I only just heard of the news just now. Even though I have both games, I'm still picking this up. What with the trophies and HD (720p only though). All I can say is (in valley girl voice) ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygoooood!

I never played either one, so I will be getting this for sure to prepare for God of War 3. Trophies and the games being remastered in HD are an added bonus, not to mention the nice price tag. Great job, Sony!

WOW! I'm hella pickin this up. I never got to play the first ones, and was thinkin about hookin up the old PS2 and playing the first 2. Now I don't have to! Genius move by the GOW people

Just a guess, but the 720p resolution might be just to reign in the anti-aliasing the game will need to hammer out all the 'jaggies' on those relatively low-poly assets. Would upping it to 1080p leave us with a situation where the Cell would basically be using all its power to constantly anti-alias everything on the screen?

Well, for the past ten years or so, I've been deprived of all console game systems, and have only been playing PC games. The PS3 is the first console I've had since 8-bit Nintento.

I'm still exploring a whole world of next-generation gaming.

I sadly missed out on quite a few PS2 gems back in the day. I didn't play as many different types of games as I do now. I really want to go back and play some of the games I missed out on eventually. This will be the perfect chance to play two of them at least.

When GoW II came out, I was playing it on my PS3 and my roommates were playing it on their PS2's. We had GoW going on in every room in the house.

By the way, this also just sealed the deal on me putting my 60gb up for sale and keeping the slim. Only reason I wanted the BC was for these 2 games.

Kindof same for me. Haven't played a single console since my playstation 1, and have been mostly gaming on PC when I had time (EQ / DAOC then WoW consume a -ton- of time, and the RTSs and a few FPSs had the rest of my gaming time).
PS3 between the Blu Ray movies and the excellent exclusives had me back, and I don't regret it (even If I haven't given up on PC gaming

)
