Just watched some of Gladiator. After switching back and forth between my 2 Disc DVD version, I couldn't figure out if some scenes looked a lot or a little better, which I guess says something Definitely doesn't look horrible, and I'm glad I got it as I've never seen the extended cut or half of the bonus features that are on this (which I am a big fan of).

And yes, the $10 rebate form is included in both Gladiator and Braveheart.

Looks okay I guess, but I'm still getting it in about 3 hours.

That is excellent news. So $8 a pop at Best Buy. I think I will pick them up on the way home from work. I just hope Gladiator isn't as disappointing as Gangs of New York. One thing is certain, at least I won't be shelling out $25 for it like I did with Gangs.

ok then.. thanks for clearing that up.. But since we are riding on the peak of the Gladiator release It shouldnt be a big deal to have more than one thread floating around.. Im sure they will all die off once the next big release comes around..

I am watching now, DO NOT BUY THIS !!

I have watched the standard version twice in the past week on my PS3 to get familiar with that quality. I am in the Germania battle scene right now, and I promise you if I had not known about the screen shots, I NOTICED the waxiness and clearly saw the fire balls disappear! then you can actually see the cut up arrows move a few seconds later IN REAL TIME . When I went back to check the fireball, it was gone for 5 FULL FRAMES! So noticeable to the naked eye in real time. If I was not an avid forum reader I would have thought they totally messed up the CGI.

This is a travesty in my opinion. I will also be e mailing Paramount for a refund. I knew I was taking my chances, but did not expect it to be this bad.

On a positive note this is a great Blu-ray for the blind.

I hope I am taking one for the team

I am watching on a 50 inch Sony SXRD

I wouldn't ask for a refund because I knew when I bought it that it was going to have issues with the picture. But I think that if everyone takes a couple of minutes to write a respectful email or make a respectful phonecall to Paramount inquiring about the problems with the disc, that maybe somewhere down the line we will get a new transfer and be able to trade our discs in. I don't think that's outside the realm of possibility.

I hope you e-mail them and demand a refund.

I'll do the same if I'm displeased.

It was 720p. The OP did mention that. Still it wouldn't stop me from getting my hands on this little flick on BD.

Update: I checked a few chapters and I can say the average person might and will like this and it's too bad. That opening battle scene is the worst of the "disappearing" stuff, but throughout the movie it does look like a bunch of wax figures acting albeit sharp around the edges but waxy just the same. It is in many parts considerably better than the DVD but in no way deserves any sort of "Blah blah blah Series" classification.

I am sure many here will be satisfied with it because they have not seen the DVD in a while. I encourage any of you that still have the dvd...compare.

True.. but truth is truth? I think if your a big enough fan of a movie, bad PQ isnt going to stop you from buying.. Thats for me anyways. From my observations, gladiator PQ is not good compared to other BD releases but its an epic movie and so its a collectors item.

Same will go for LOTR I think.. theres going to be people who do not like the series and they will nit pick, but I think no matter what it will be LOTR.

Thats how I sees its anyways..
