Default Underworld trilogy which one to watch first?

Should I watch part 3, before 1 and 2 since it's a prequel?

IMO, no.

I would suggest watching them in the order they were released Underworld, Evolution, Rise of the Lycans.

You won't miss much, or anything really, if you watch the prequel first, I just think the first one works better without prior knowledge of the history.

In my opinion i would say start with underworld followed by evolution and then go and watch rise of the lycans

RotL is a prequel, but it's not as good of a film as the filst one was and IMO alot of the film relys on you having seen the first 2 (not plot wise but for just pure enjoyment factor), and like the star wars movies, watching the prequel first will take away some of the cool story twists and characters in Underworld and Evolution

So bottom line is watching it in timline order won't ruin the series but the best better way to experience the trilogy is to watch them in release order

I would say start with The Underworld first then rise of lycans and finish it with a bang with Evolution.

Watch the first one and skip the other two, because all sequels are crap and this series is no exception.

+1 One of the best things about the first one is starting to find out about things (characters, history, etc) as the movie progresses since the main character does the same thing. Rise of the Lycans is ok as a standalone movie, but better as a trilogy. You'll have to watch the first two to really appreciate the characters.

Agree with the others, watch them in order:
Underworld, Evolution then Rise of the Lycans.

I would agree with everyone here. The first two movies give the background for RotL to make the most sense. It won't hurt to watch RotL first, but I think the experience is better watching them in order of release.

I'd watch them in the order they were theatrically released...1, 2, 3. It's actually cooler knowing what's going to happen in Lycans before watching it, at least I thought.

In no particular order:

1) Dark Knight
2) X2
3) Spider-man 2
4) Godfather II
5) Empire Strikes Back
6) Two Towers, Return of the King
7) Aliens
8) Star Trek First Contact, Wrath of Khan
9) Christmas Vacation
10) Grease 2

That's just 10.

I think for the first time, watch them in order. After that I would go 3, 1, 2.

Anyways, my vote goes to watching them in 1, 2, 3 order. After seeing Rise of the Lycans earlier, I thought watching that first would make sense, but there are some valid points here for watching them in release order.

My vote is for release order. The second is a weaker film than the first but adds some great characters to the mythos. The third has the best acting of all three movies.

But if you insists on watching them chronologically, this is how you do it:

1) Pre-title prologue of Underworld Evolution
2) Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
3) Underworld
3) The remainder of Underworld Evolution (you can skip the post-title prologue as it's merely a summary of the events of Underworld)
