Was good that Sauron took more of a lead role in season 2.

The wizard and Numenor storylines were dragging the season down.

Looks like the ATV4K is buggy with regards to Dolby Atmos. I guess after the new TV OS update was installed, it made stuff on PRIME that was supposed to be in ATMOS playback in 2.0. It's still in DV/HDR10 but only in stereo.

I already watched this in ATMOS a couple of weeks ago but when I tried to rewatch it again today I noticed that the AVR only played it back in 2.0. I did test out other non PRIME related material in ATMOS and those worked fine. PRIME does have a very unreliable app but ATMOS has usually always worked.

Finished binging S2 yesterday and thought it was pretty great. I liked S1 too, but it felt a bit vanilla in comparison. S2 is a major improvement on all fronts IMO. Better pacing, more emotional impact, high stakes, villains you really love to hate, and some fantastic episodes. The battle of Eregion was epic, haven't seen anything like it since Game of Thrones. Glad that the show was already renewed for S3.

I liked both Season 1 and 2. They should have just called this series, "The Rings of Power." No need to mention "Lord of the Rings."

No official renewal yet iirc. They are working on season 3 (early days), but nothing official yet. That said; I'd be surprised if they'd cancel the show.

Overall I liked season 2; it was better than season 1 (which I already liked), but it's still not Hobbit/LOTR quality.

Like someone else said; the stuff around Numenor slowed down the season a bit; I'd rather have seen them focus on the dwarfs, the making of the rings, the elves and then some Gandalf stuff mixed in between. The whole arc around Theo/Isildur and Numenor were a bit meh.

Well, it was reported that it's "on the verge" of being renewed.

I think the show is far better than the Hobbit movies. LOTR is untouchable of course.

Hm, I liked the Numenor storyline. Pharazon and his offspring are truly loathsome villains. But if I remember the Tolkien legendarium correctly they'll get what's coming to them.

Well, ''on the verge'' is not the same as an official renewal. It's looking very promising and I'm sure it'll happen, but nothing official about it when the renewal is still ''on the verge''

Glad you love the show so much I hope it will reach Hobbit/LOTR levels for me one day.

What I'm worried about is that they renew it but with a much lower budget. I was a little disappointed in this series not sticking closer to Tolkien (originally, I thought the idea was to adapt the rest of his unfilmed writings, i.e. The Silmarillion). This feels more fan fiction-y and I find myself agreeing with a good chunk of the criticisms I've seen.

BUT I still think it's good enough to stick with, I'm still enjoying it, and I'd hate to see the negative reactions to the series lead to a decline in quality until it spirals out. RoP does have some of the most impressive production values of any show going, and I'm almost more worried about seeing a cheaper, slapdash season 3 than none at all.

Just finished Season 2 and, while I enjoyed Season 1 just for being back in Middle Earth, I really liked Season 2. Perhaps just because I understood the players and situations better, but the writing seemed tighter as well. Looking forward to more seasons and wish they would come out on disc. I know, I know, but I can dream...

The $808M series that's the biggest flop in TV history.

Trash rag Daily Mail using incomplete and unreliable Samba data to draw conclusions. Nice combo.

If anyone makes an argument for or against a claim with one source that has unreliable metrics based on statistics that rely on its own measure without several different points of reference to correlate the information, the claim is dubious at best.

Usually what happens is the person who makes the argument will use manipulated statistics to support their own perspective/opinion of the material.

I don't care if they say it's the 'most successful show ever', or if it's 'the biggest flop ever'. Either way, it's missing the nuance of proper analysis.

Finally finished season 2 and I… still don’t really know how I feel about the show. Like, I neither hate nor love it. I almost feel nothing towards it lol. Like, I don’t sit there stewing about “how much I hate it!” while I’m watching it, but nothing really excites me while I’m watching it either.
