As a life-long for LZ since 1969... I got to see them on every tour that came through DFW since 1970.

The most amazing experience I had, and there were Many... was LZ performing "Kashmir" in 1977 in Ft. Worth, Texas. The 2007 O2 performance, as it was recorded, most approaches what I heard and experienced in 1977, over all other recordings.

Saw this last night at the IMAX, what an unbelievable experience, almost like living firsthand the onslaught of Zeppelin into mainstream US culture. I now have a new favorite song by them, "How Many More Times". The live version in this movie has to be one of their greatest performances of all time. Sound quality was fantastic and the huge IMAX screen had me feeling like I was watching them live in concert. If you're a Led Zeppelin fan and on the fence about going, don't hesitate, experience this mind blowing film before it's gone.

I spent my Super Bowl Sunday night watching... Becoming Led Zeppelin! Viewing number three. I plan on seeing it at least one more time but in the standard release next week. It was a smaller gathering this time around of ten other people. Some who made it clear that they had no interest in the Super Bowl!

Yes, that would be nice to see the photographs in book form. Something that is more affordable to the common man (and woman)!

Wow, that's a huge screen! My IMAX theatre's screen is one of the smaller variety. It's still my favorite way to watch a movie, even beating out Dolby Cinema which has a huge fan-base. Yes, that "How Many More Times" performance blew me away! The people that were there watching it were so lucky! I told my nephew about this movie who is a Led Zeppelin fan. I was singing the praises of this movie to him and urged him to go see it. He said that he may have to go think about seeing it. I thought to myself, you gotta make the time to go see it!

I said it before but I would absolutely love to see more documentaries/films/concerts like this in either IMAX or Dolby Cinema or even a standard theatre.

How Many More Times was really the big showcase song for them from the start though to halfway though 1970.

I do think it highlights as well that a lot of what made early Zeppelin so good live was that compared to a lot of white blues rock bands from the era they were just so much more funky.

I looked into the theater more (having never been to this location) after everyone says the sound is awesome, because most theaters around here suck for sound, they haven't updated many since the Star Wars 1-3 came out (!!), and I was curious to see if anyone said anything about it. Well, just last year this place sunk a ton of money (a benefactor died in 2021 and left them money I assume) into hiring a pro sound guy (who designed recording studios for Hendrix all the way to Jay-Z and has done some pretty huge live spaces as well) and redoing the one theater (which seeing the other movies playing at the same time there is no way Zep won't be in this space! (They're all "older" movies.)) and he did a dolby atmos with 33 speakers (30 of which are used during movies, the other three (plus others) are used for live shows, they also do live music for silent films there too). So now I'm even more excited to go!!!!

And my husband says he's excited to see it at home too through his speakers (he's a musician and does a lot of recording so he won't allow a surround sound system for movies since he has his stereo and speaker set-up there, haha, which admittedly does sound great for movies, it's just stereo.), so they better put this out on 4k, since he's bothering me about when I can order the disk!!!

Most of the time when I'm watching a movie, I choose the 2 speaker option over the 5.1 option. My main speakers are good, but the surround speakers are not big enough to make it worth the use.

Many movies's 5.1 mixes are not done to my satisfaction to begin with.
Surround mixing is both an art, and a science.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but during the film when they were talking about their first tour and then showing concert footage of the band playing "How Many More Times", it seemed to imply that this was footage from their first ever show as a band (Copenhagen - September 7, 1968). But I was under the impression that the only recordings of the band we have from 1968 is the Gonzaga bootleg show in December. Was that really footage from their first ever concert?

But I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to the hopeful 4K release that this gets. Hopefully we get the extended 137-minute cut that they showed at the Venice Film Festival on the 4K. The more footage we see the better!

The performance of "How Many More Times" is from Danish TV, March 1969. The Gonzaga University recording is the only known recording from 1968 that is known to exist, however, there have been rumors over the years of other recordings from that period that if they exist would likely be in the hands of tape hoarders.

We had a 5.1 many years ago and hated it, we much prefer the stereo speakers. I assume a better surround system would be better for some things but I get weird hearing issues and it kind of messes things up for me and ruins my watching of the movie. My husband on the other hand, due to his hearing/listening from years of recording, hears EVERYTHING wrong with a mix! haha. He can't not hear the problems. Man, he almost walked out of the room the first time we watched the Fright Night 4k! We had to put a little note by the disk to tell us to not watch/listen to it with the botched 2.0 audio track it bothered him so badly. What's funny is he's not big on sound in movies, he hates atmos tracks (as do I) and we both really prefer original audio, especially for things that are mono or stereo, but unless the sound is something of a character itself he has no interest. And he does music soundtrack type audio (keyboards/synths) for himself, it's weird. haha

That's amazing. I was only 9 in 1969. I do remember exactly where I was when I first heard the name. I was in 4th grade, and the class was playing charades. It was my turn, and I unfolded the paper, and it was Led Zeppelin. I was compleletly clueless. I didn't know what Led or a Zeppelin was. The teacher looked, laughed and said it was the name of a rock band. Whoever wrote that, had better taste in music at the time than I did. I caught up quickly.

I have Celebration Day. The concert of course is EXCELLENT. I was seriously considering flying over and trying to scalp a ticket, till I heard that multi millions tried getting tickets. There were probably just as many people aiming for tickets at the gate as there were going into the show. The really cool part of Celebration Day is the rehearsal video. I found it strangely odd that a camera was set up in the back, and as the band were performing, people would pass in front not even listening. You're in the room with arguably the greatest band ever, and you think "I'm gonna go take a piss."

I was fortunate. Back in the early 2000s I found out there was a bootleg of the full opening night MSG show from 1977. My first concert. It was just as great as I remember.

I've written this before, it's just true. Black Sabbath (who I love) are the same amount of players. I saw an early 70s live video and Iommi begins his solo and the sound flattens. He's playing single notes, the bass and drums while excellent, aren't filling the gap. Is there a single Zeppelin live song where this happens? NO. Zeppelin is special. One of a kind, greatest band EVER!

Thanks. I could have sworn though when the performance first starts up, on the bottom of the screen it says the footage is from September 1968. Which made me think either they recently found this footage for the first time, or they screwed up.

Caught a screening this past Saturday. I'd say overall this was a pretty solid doc with the highlights being the equal mixture of music footage and information, Jimmy Page's detailing of his session work (that Goldfinger bit especially was really cool), and Peter Grant's contributions as manager. Pretty hopeful for a blu-ray given that this is a Sony Pictures Classics endeavor, but then again we'll see. I was also really stoked that this just focused on Zeppelins I and II as I've leaned more towards blues Zeppelin in recent years compared to their more intricate and experimental stuff they put out with Houses of the Holy onward (although I love that stuff quite a bit still as well!).

I do think the big strength of Zeppelin live was how good the interplay was between the four of them. Compared to a lot of the bands of the era it tended to not be as much a case of just people taking solos(even if things like Moby Dick and the violin bow became famous) as prolonged interplay between them.

Too young to have been to any shows but listening to them afterwards what always stands out for me is that they feel very "alive", not over rehearsed and not just really long solos but like a band playing on the edge, ironically actually quite punky.

Zep were notorious because they were caught so many times, still the stuff they didn't steal was great. If you took the stolen songs out of their catalog they would still have an incredible catalog.

The movie is more about the music, read the books if you want the dirt. I wouldn't want my documentary to go into all that sh!t. And yes, Zep did a lot of bad sh!t.

Since I lived in the Bay Area on that last American Tour I know all about Peter Grant and Bonham beating the sh!t out of a Graham employee.

I have never had a positive feeling since then about Peter Grant or John Bonham. John is exactly where he should be.

It was a really good film though and I hope it comes out on 4K.

The major problem is that they didn't give credit for some songs they took inspiration.

Other than that, nobody can't touch Led Zeppelin, the influences they took they transformed it in something unique like only great artists do.

Considering that mostly 60's and 70's rock bands were heavily influenced by blues, it's hard to name those who didn't "steal".
