That's because it was that terrible half-baked Wii game.

I didn't care for the art style. I didn't like the motion control. I know it was optional but motion controls were being pushed in almost every Wii title. I just think the game could've been so much more and I don't think it captured the spirit of the NES or even SNES versions.

What I would LOVE to see Nintendo do is get Mike Tyson back to endorse a new Punch Out and put him in the game again! That would be so cool!

I just looked up sales of the Wii Punch Out and it sold 1.27 million. That's not horrible. It just didn't match the high selling franchises like Zelda or Mario Galaxy.

Wario Land: Shake It only sold about 1.06 million. Must have had to do with coming out during a slump in the economy.

Punch-Out Wii was fantastic. I'm still kicking myself for not getting the Club Nintendo exclusive DLC with Doc Louis when I had the chance. I ended up getting a Mario hat instead...

It could have been a much better game if not for the obnoxious controls. Having to constantly shake the controller killed the game for a lot of players.

This right here. The game play was great. Steel just hates the Wii and that's fine but this game was good.

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...-says-furukawa

Quote:
Earlier this month, the current U.S. administration implemented an additional 10% tariff on all goods imported into the country from China. While the full effect of this increase is yet to be seen, it poses a potential price hike for consoles and accessories developed in China, which, naturally, is a cause for concern to both consumers and developers.

Acknowledging this, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has said that the company is looking into the potential impact that the tariffs could have on the upcoming financial year and the launch of the Switch 2. As reported by Reuters (and translated by Nintendo Everything), Furukawa explained in a press conference that the company is "predicting various geopolitical risks and establishing ways to respond".
“Nintendo Switch is not only manufactured in China," Furukawa noted, "but in places such as Vietnam and Cambodia as well".

With many Switch consoles already imported into the US by the time the tariffs came into effect, Furukawa suggests that there should be little financial damage this fiscal year: "While we anticipate a certain impact, the influence on this year’s financial results is expected to be minimal".

I was under the assumption most of their manufacturing had already moved out of China.

My thoughts exactly. The joy-cons always felt too compact and honestly kind of hurt my hands

They suck. Period. Even in the grip attachment I hate the Joycons. I never use them.

In light of the conversation we had the other day regarding N64 not using CD-Rom, this article came across my timeline. Interesting stuff!

Did anyone see that comment about GTA 6 running on the Switch 2? Personally I don't see it happening unless the Switch 2 is really, really powerful, near PS5/Series S level graphics.

There might be a possibility, but it would be compromised in some way performance-wise. Then again, the XBox Series S will get the game too and it’s behind the performance levels of the PS5/Pro and XBox Series X. Perhaps the Switch 2 version would be like the XBox Series S version.

GTA 6: Barely Functioning Edition might happen. But Christ almighty, WHO would choose to play it that way?? "Oh, but you can play it on the go!" Stop! If you are a GTA fan, you ain't trying to play this game at 30fps (or less) and 1080p (or less).

If this sells more copies on Switch than anywhere else I'm pointing back to this

I could see a lot of folks wanting to play on the go (graphics be damned), especially if they make a compelling online part again.

Still a lot of unknowns when one person can and will wake up in the morning and decide to slap any tariff he wants on any country on a whim. For all we know, he could wake up tomorrow and decide he doesn't like Vietnam (he sure tried to avoid that country in the 70's) either, slapping a tariff on the other country Nintendo manufactures a lot of consoles.

I miss the days when electronics were made in Japan. I would be willing to pay a bit more for a Nintendo or PlayStation console made in Japan.

Interesting take. Can you go into more detail as to why you feel this way?

Japanese products are generally of high quality and likely last longer than products made in China or Vietnam. Many Nintendo consoles and games from the 8 and 16 but era were made in Japan and still work flawlessly after 30-35 years.
