I got the platinum for this over the weekend (rented through GameFly), and overall it’s a pretty decent game. Gameplay consists of linear levels with roughly four to five sections where you have to defeat enemies, eventually facing a boss at the end….rinse, repeat. The combat is fun enough and what saves the repetitive levels from being a chore to play (the story is kind of meh).

One of the most important things I look for in a game when deciding wether to purchase or not is the replay value. This game has zero imo. For those that are looking to purchase, I would highly recommend waiting for a sale…$39.99 or less.

Thanks for your thoughts on the game. You finished it fast, nice going.
The combat looks good. Level variety hopefully is there too. I see there is actually a mine cart ride section of the game, which looks fun.

There are two mine cart sections, but they’re short.

This wasn't on my radar at all but it seems like GoW meets Wild West meets The Order 1886.

How hard was plat for you? Powerpyx makes it sound like a really hard plat.

There were a few sections that were tough, but overall it wasn’t too bad. You’ll have to play the game twice no matter what to get enough money to fully upgrade all weapons, so attempting this on NG+ is the obvious choice. If I remember correctly, all but one of the main Boss encounters have checkpoints during the fight which makes them more manageable. The main thing to remember is to constantly move around…don’t stand in one place. During the sections where you have to fight enemies, you’ll face a couple of different types, all with their own attack patterns. Some of the areas where these encounters take place are small so it can be a bit overwhelming at times. Just focus on the tougher enemies first and again…keep moving and pick your shots. Some enemies will heal themselves/others around them during combat, so make these a priority. Also, always try to shoot the target circles that pop up on enemies (especially the Bosses).

Back up your save periodically. The game crashed twice on me wiping out all of my progress (also crashed twice while replaying chapters). Luckily I had a NG+ file saved as backup.

I just finished this, decent game. I liked how 'video game-y' it is, which is a weird compliment for a a video game but here we are. feels like a ps360 games with modern graphics, which is a good thing.

it isn't perfect, though. the enemies are damage sponges and the game throws too many 'mini bosses' in the regular encounters, it's like playing Doom Eternal, except the combat isn't as fun/fast paced as Doom.

it also felt like I was damaging the controller by mashing the RB (attack button) this much, specially because the RB/LB aren't the best on the Xbox controller

anyway, enjoyable mid-tier game. maybe even more fun on easy? not that it's difficult on normal, but I think it would benefit from quicker encounters
