Not confirmed, though there are obvious similarities with certain things that I've provided evidence of in the past. My theory has been that it's really someone who worked at Olive, who started their own label, using the studio, and manufacturing connections he/she had at Olive to make new deals for this label.

Justin LaLiberty (username JLaLibs) from Vinegar Syndrome said someone else had the rights for Rush.

That part hurts.

But still, for a boutique I admittedly chop down on the daily, this is a solid, stacked slate, and I'm impressed. Still doesn't top that Sleepaway Camp slate, but this is still solid.

Really always thought this would pop up from Criterion eventually. My DVD of this is soooooo old.

They are too busy putting out Sorcerer again tho.

AFAIK Criterion have never released Sorcerer before (not even on Laserdisc), and it's the first time it's getting a 4K UHD.

Someone can and should do a 4K of Leaving Las Vegas some day, and they likely will.

It's 16mm, but I think the formats are really good together.

Lord of Illusions, which was released just last year by Sandpiper, is now getting a 4K UHD from Shout!

Pretty much confirms the heavy rumors that Shout also has the UHD rights for the Sleepaway Camp sequels.

Now those titles are confirmed, along with Salvador getting a 4K upgrade.

Makes you wonder about the future of this label now that it's becoming very obvious that any major title they release could be upgraded to 4K not too long after.

Especially when the Sandpiper releases tend to use pretty old masters, which makes the comparison between the Blu and 4k look very bad.

Sucks that a film getting a Sandpiper means it'll get a 4k but no bd with the new master.

I don't order much from Sandpiper but ordered The Charge of the Light Brigade. I'm guessing it's the same master streaming on Amazon, and while it's old, it's not as horrible as I feared, but still very old. Never seen this one, so looking forward to it.

Does this label have deals with any studio outside MGM? Olive Films also had deals with Paramount and Fox.

Everything they've released so far is from MGM. Wasn't that Fox deal with Olive only the last season of King of the Hill?

New Sandpiper wave coming December 2nd. All titles previously released by Olive Films. Keep in mind, Sandpiper only got Blu-ray rights here,so it's still possible for some of these to come out on 4K. Dirty Work for example recently got a 4K release from Vinegar Syndrome.

Quote:
Dirty Work

Mannequin

The Meteor Man

Sometimes They Come Back

Stagecoach (1986)

Undercover Blues

Zapped!

Good for Sandpiper if they actually use that Zapped! artwork. I had to buy a non-official custom insert to replicate that, and not see the horrible cover Olive used.

It's nice to see them rereleasing Olive films alongside previous Twilight Time releases. Here's a hoping in the future they can release Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell and Follow That Dream for those unfortunate souls who missed out while they were in print.
