Why go to a "movie theater" when you have "home theater"!

I've taken repeated measurements, and I'm just not able to squeeze that 75' wide screen into my house...... Maybe I'll keep working on it.

Plus, it's nice to get away and have a night without JR.

edit: thanks for the bump, hopefully there is one near me where it's playing

I think it's that day only..... I called mine (there are many theaters in my area playing it fortunately) They were HALF sold out so far, but she said they've been selling more every day as it gets closer.... So I bought a couple of tickets......

Follow the link in the first post.... there is a place to find a list of theaters playing it.... over 400 nationwide so you should be able to find one close by, unless you live in the sticks

I refuse to go see The Wizard of Oz in a movie theater.

There will be nothing but screaming, crying brats...the sound of kids chomping on concession snacks, choking on rancid foot long hot dogs, and noisily slobbering soda through crazy straws --- not to mention the stench of dirty diapers, farts, sweaty armpits --- and the never-ending sound of clicking and beeping cellphones sending and receiving text messages.

There's no place like home (click, click, click)...

...especially if one has a 1080p big screen LCD and an impressive surround sound system. The Wizard of Oz on blu-ray will be an enchanting experience which I can hardly wait to enjoy... at home.

Agree...As much as I want to see it on the big screen...I'd still rather watch it @ home.

Looks like I'll be in Denver on business during that time, so I'll find a theater there. Thanks for the bump!

If anyone is bummed out that they don't have a local theater showing the movie, you can settle for a small consolation prize of watching the remastered version for free on Netflix.

It will only be shown once, on October 3rd, but will be available for streaming the entire day.

Edit: Oh, and if you don't know if it's playing near you, here is the list of theaters.

Great movies should be experienced, not just watched. A "big screen LCD" is not a big screen. An impressive sound system is just audio porn.

I am in the process of upgrading my home theatre and do appreciate video at home, but, the movie experience is not the same outside of a nice theatre.

I grew up in the days prior to the walkman, and remember lamenting at the time that technology was taking music listening from a community experience to an individual experience. And to some extent home video has done the same for movies.
