Not that one would've been overly aware of the release date gap back in 1990.

Unless you caught some specific report on TV or in magazines mentioning the US release, you'd mostly become aware of a movie when the marketing rollout started in your country.
Go figure, Disney animated movies were often released one full year later internationally up until 'The Lion King.' Release strategies used to be more localized. |

I was lucky enough to see it in the states on a holiday trip in the May. My school friends were rabid to talk about what I had seen when I came back. There was also the Turtle Power record by Partners in Kryme that was Number One in the U.K. for a month at the end of the summer - with the movie still months away from release. |

It's unlikely to be a specific New Line Cinema deal. Arrow has been releasing Warner Bros. branded titles, too.

Coming in hot for such a new account... socky sock perchance?
![]() Regardless, you're missing the point, that while you may have lived sheltered and only heard about these bits from official trailers, sources like print mags, "insider" shows, discussion hotspots like older video stores, or even having true insider word-of-mouth all existed and traveled. This is true both in the UK and in the states, whether you knew about any of it or not. Rock on. |

Also, there's no need to make assumptions about my life. I'm aware of all the things you're listing, but I think we're talking apples and oranges here. The point I was trying to make was that the general awareness of a US movie release back then can't be quite compared to the way things are during today's Internet era, with a magnitude of information, material and the likes being readily available at any time with a simple click. Anyway, it's all good. "Winning" arguments online is not one of my priorities. Last edited by frankeinstein; 04-02-2025 at 04:18 PM. |

I'd buy an Arrow Turtles set in a heartbeat.
Funny that Sally Menke's early editing career involved two movies with characters that won't leave tips. |

Wasn't this one of the movies leaked on that picture with other upcoming WB movies that has been proven right so far? Movies like Dirty Harry, Lethal Weapon, Caddyshack, European Vacation, Boogie Nights, A Nightmare On Elm Street Collection, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, and Dog Day Afternoon.
