The movie was a mess. I'm curious what Trank's full vision was for the film before he completely lost it and had to be replaced. Had everything went smoothly would it have been a better film or was there never going to be a way of saving it?

Based on the Phase 4 track record and the quality of D+ shows lately, and including the fact that the last 2 F4 movies were not good, I get the hesitation.

We have already heard that Silver surfer is getting a gender change. She has already been shown in the Cinema Con footage. There is a comic accurate storyline to support this Shalla-Bal become the Silver Surfer in 1968 she was Norrin Radds girlfriend, this was 2 years after Radd debuted in 1966.

Galactus is going to be the big thing hopefully this works but there is a shot of him from SDCC 2024 trailer

We already have the shadow shot of him from behind and it looks solid.

Anyway, as usual, folks are getting worked up for nothing, let's just see how it all plays out once it's released rather than prejudge it based on what we know so far. Marvel never adheres strictly to the comics anyway so any story is fair game...the gender "change" (that isn't) to the SS is just them having actors in mind to fit their version of the narrative and then they sign the actor du jour at the time, hence Julia Garner who is hot right now. I have no doubt, we'll eventually see the male version of the SS that we are more familiar with and then that version with a different actor will get folks stoked up.

Trank’s FF wasn’t that bad until the time jump and it turned into shit.

The first act was godawful, too. That movie was a complete slog from start to finish. I doubt Trank’s full vision would’ve been much better if at all. At best, it would’ve been mostly garbage instead of complete garbage.

And at the end of the day, he has nobody to blame but himself for his film being taken away from him. Showing up drunk to shoots and supposedly giving his cast and crew hell in said drunken stupor, costing tons of money in set damage and so on.

Fant4stic's biggest issue was it was boring. Nothing really happened. Didn't help that it had a mental midget directing it.

I would have loved to have seen Trank's full vision. If I remember right they brought in producer Simon Kinberg to direct that changed third act.

If you can do your best to ignore the comics and pretend it was Tank's own original idea it isn't that terrible as a sci-fi film. I dug that he was inspired a bit by Cronenberg's body horror style.

I am just waiting for the DVD to drop to 4.99 or 5.99 to finally see Fant4stic, which is actually pronounced as FantFourstic.

I wasn't on the set to see what really happened, but apparently the director Trank was smoking plants a lot and probably zoned out, but also very difficult to work with I hear if true. Something about micromanaging things and hassling actors. I don't think he's working on anything at this time in 2025. Some aren't meant to be in charge of a lot of people, and should just stay with smaller projects.

There is a lot of pressure from Producers and others on the set, questioning things probably.

Which is the worst thing a movie can be. And you’re right, you spend 2 hours waiting for something, anything to happen. Trank said his full vision was much better than what we got and he cursed Fox for not letting us see his version, well then maybe don’t show up to work drunk and act like an ******* on set and smash up sets? He gave them no choice but to get rid of him mid-production.

Again, this’ll almost certainly be better than the previous FF movies (they’d literally have to try to do worse than them and I still don’t know if they’d succeed), but like I said, that’s not setting the bar very high for the Tim Story movies and for Trank version (Fant4shit), that’s not setting the bar at all. That bar is at the earth’s crust or lower. Same thing with PWSA’s House of the Dead.

Someone should tell Trank that. He says, and I quote,

“I love the movie so much, I’m so proud of it. There’s nothing anybody could tell me about this movie that would make me feel any less of the amount of love that I have for it.“

Actually, some fans want to see Miles Teller return. Mainly cause, not many people realize this, but Miles Teller is technically the Maker in Fan4stic. So Fox unintentionally already set up his origin story in case Marvel Studios ever wants to use Maker. Which I suspect they will since Marvel Studios already used up most of Fantastic Four's core villains by the time we even get to the sequels.

IMHO Trank tried to make it as realistic as possible. As mentioned above, he even said he wanted to make it a horror.

On one hand, I can understand where he is coming from. If you woke up and your body was stretched out 20 feet, you'd be pretty freaked out. You wouldn't just laugh it off and reach for the toilet paper.

But ultimately, too much realism doesn't work in a comic book movie. The audience knows going in that there rapidly comes a point where you - and the characters - just have to accept the impossible and move on with the plot. I much prefer the vibe of the first 2, and the only real horror Trank created here was the mess he left his landlord.
