Arrow Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-ray Player

Toshiba join the Blu-ray Association last month, now they are planning on releasing Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-ray Player in November.

Does anyone know if they will include HD-DTS and HD-Dolby Digital with this player?

by the time this unit hits stores it will not be $249. It will probably be $199 just like the Sony 360 and the Samsung 1600 now have an MSRP of $199. The Sony and the Samsung started out with a $299 MSRP.

Best Buy in West Hollywood has a Toshiba Blu ray player for sale now; it is $199.

Nice to see Toshiba has gotten in to BluRay. Hope soon they place BD drives in their laptops too so I can consider buying one but that's another subject.

Unless I flat out missed it, I don't see the player listed on Best Buy's website nor Toshiba's.

Neither site has the info up yet.

When I saw this unit in Best Buy over the weekend, it still had a hand written product info tag beneath it.

The Best Buy on my area (Orlando, FL) had a bunch of them on the shelves. There's usually a week or two lag before new players are up in their website.

I wonder how much residual animosity exists against Toshiba from the Blu folk. I also wonder how much animosity is there from the hd-dead folks who feel betrayed by Toshiba. I personally have no interest in buying ANYTHING from them. I had a DVD player from them and it wouldn't even play CD-Rs. And I never will forget that Toshiba was on the wrong side of the recordable DVD format war AND the Hi-def war they waged on Blu-ray.

I don't take this stuff personally or seriously so from this Bludude, i am glad to see them enter the arena finally and would never hold a grudge for them trying to bring HD to the masses.

it looks like a nice player, and ive had nothing but good things to say about the HD-DVD players ive had from them. Ive had 2 HD-A2's and a HD-A3, so i wouldnt be worried about buying from them, but when Amazon is selling the BD60 for $130 its hard to buy a player for 70 more that has nothing else to offer.

Good point, even at the $200 price it doesnt seem right. Hopefully they drop the price soon (2-3 months), but we all know that what happen till the replacement model comes around.

My personal experience with Toshiba products (both CE & computer) has been excellent. I would consider their products in a heartbeat. My Toshiba HD-DVD players are still used constantly and work perfectly and I surely do not harbor any animosity towards Toshiba as a result of them being forced to drop HD-DVD development. They really had no choice. They also provided excellent support to their customers even after they threw the towel in as demonstrated by hardware support and firmware development long after the product line had been shut down.
I expect we will see some worthy blu-ray product offerings from Toshiba in the coming years.
