However there is this.
I'm sorry, "How it was meant to be seen"?

The way it was meant to be seen was on one of these:

So unless the box set comes with one, it's not true to the original.

If you want to be even more anal about it, the it was not seen on colour TV in the UK for the original transmissions. 405-line B&W.

Are you sure about that? Stingray, which predates Thunderbirds, even has a cheeky little intro where it starts in black & white, only to then zoom out, revealing it to have been a TV screen all along, while also switching to color.

Stingray was filmed in 1963 and original broadcast by ITV from late 1964 to early 1965.

However, colour TV didn't start in the UK until 1967 and that was BBC2. ITV and BBC1 didn't switch to colour until 1969.

As noted ITC were ahead of their times making shows for the US in colour before they could be shown here, so we only got in b/w originally.

Was same with ABC and The Avengers which switched to colour filming when sold to the US from 1965 onwards. Still b/w here.

I like it.

The Telefuken TV set is really too modern and luxirous being colour and 8 channels (wow) they would have to supply a black and white set for true 1965 originality.
