I’m hoping a deluxe Stingray set is in the works too.

It would have to go someway to beat the previous Network set I have.

I’m sure it would at least equal it, plus the Network deluxe set is just a tad out-of-print and going for craaaaaaazy money on eBay, as you know. There’s one up right now for £325 shipped. Yikes. I’m not interested in the barebones Spirit reissue set, without even the fifth disc that included the special features. We either need a proper reissue which at least includes that fifth disc or another full-blown deluxe edition. I’m now kicking myself for missing out on so many Network releases.

Even if Network were still around, you wouldn't get the special features disc. Those were exclusive to deluxe editions. A frustrating practice though.

The extra audio CDs and LPs were fair enough along with the printed materials, but I hate disc special features discs being exclusive.

I’m aware of all that. And that’s why we need a reissue from the Gerry Anderson company, with the special features disc included at the very least. I repeat: I’m kicking myself for missing out on so many Network sets.

August is all they have said so far but given their recent habit of delaying releases I suspect a late September release.

Oh yes. If they do a new edition, it absolutely should have it.

However there is this.
I'm sorry, "How it was meant to be seen"?

The way it was meant to be seen was on one of these:

So unless the box set comes with one, it's not true to the original.

If you want to be even more anal about it, the it was not seen on colour TV in the UK for the original transmissions. 405-line B&W.

I like it.

The Telefuken TV set is really too modern and luxirous being colour and 8 channels (wow) they would have to supply a black and white set for true 1965 originality.

Are you sure about that? Stingray, which predates Thunderbirds, even has a cheeky little intro where it starts in black & white, only to then zoom out, revealing it to have been a TV screen all along, while also switching to color.

Stingray was filmed in 1963 and original broadcast by ITV from late 1964 to early 1965.

However, colour TV didn't start in the UK until 1967 and that was BBC2. ITV and BBC1 didn't switch to colour until 1969.

As noted ITC were ahead of their times making shows for the US in colour before they could be shown here, so we only got in b/w originally.

Was same with ABC and The Avengers which switched to colour filming when sold to the US from 1965 onwards. Still b/w here.

[Show spoiler]

Looks unchanged from a few weeks ago, fully expect the August date to slip into September.

I was tempted at the time to buy those sets, but the size of the them put me off and I was buying so much from Network at the time it was embarrassing. In the end I got Network's standard editions.

I kick myself though for not getting The Avengers: The Cybernauts Trilogy to have the episode in HD from The New Avengers, the other two Cybernauts episodes I already had with the StudioCanal releases and that is why I didn't buy it at the time and in the hope The New Avengers series would be released by Network.
