Default more on the Memorial.

Here is more about the memorial.

Click on the pic if you want to go to the site:

Quote:
Commemorating the lives of those who perished on September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993, the Memorial Exhibition will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about the men, women and children who became a part of history because of where they happened to be on those fateful days.

Visitors will enter along a corridor in which nearly 3,000 photographs form a "Wall of Faces" - photographs of the victims with their names listed beneath each - through which the scale of loss will be conveyed with immediacy and power. Nearby, interactive tables will offer additional information about each person, including photos, recollections by family and friends, artifacts, and the location of individual names on the Memorial pools.

Turning away from the "Wall of Faces," visitors will enter a separate room where profiles of individual victims will be presented in a dignified sequence, through photographs, biographical information, and audio recordings, inviting us to bear witness. Detailed information such as age, place of birth, rank and title will be included, creating moving portraits of each individual. It is our hope that all visitors to the Museum will leave the Memorial Exhibition with heightened respect for who these people were, and a recognition of our shared humanity and our shared loss.

The Memorial Exhibition will rely on material contributed by you. With your permission, contributions will become part of the Museum's permanent collection and will actively support our exhibition and educational efforts in perpetuity.

Please follow the links below to learn more about our collecting efforts and to find out how you and your family may contribute materials and memories to the Museum.

That's a horrible thing to say, and it shows no grasp of history. Shame on you.

Glad to see there are others who also took offense to "changed what America stands for" BS. A few isolated incidents of "intolerance" (and that's all that EVER happened) does not constitute a change in anything, and as you so correctly pointed out shows no grasp of history.

Today (and always), we need to remember the real victims; those who were murdered in cowardly acts of terrorism against unarmed civilians. May those inocents who died rest in peace. May those who caused their deaths forever suffer in Hell.

My nephew's birthday is also today, and it changed the meaning of it forever to him, also. Happy Birthday MJ.

I thought MJ said it was his brothers birthday? Either that or I'm just really tired on a Friday morning. My aunts wedding happened on 9/11 several years before the attack. This terrorist act affected everyone around the world. The victims and their families deserve our respect and our prayers - feeling sorry for muslims is a huge slap in the face to the thousands of victims and their families which were of all nationalities.

I agree with the bold statement above. I really have no remorse for the attackers and their organization at all. Extremely tragic event.

9/11 was surely tragic, but I really don't see how anything has changed since. I think there is a sentiment that believes things ought to be different somehow, that in no way could something like 9/11 happen and yet people just continue along with their lives afterward, that 9/11 could not happen without fundamentally impacting the world. But it did, and life goes on. I imagine it will take more than 19 guys on 3 airplanes to really shift the course of human existence in any appreciable way.

Unfortunately, 9/11 was used as the reason behind the Iraq war and in so, it has had a significant impact and changed how the world sees the USA and ended up fueling fear and hatred. So in the end, those 19 deluded fanatics may have accomplished part of their goals with the help of our government. 9/11 brought sympathy and camaraderie to our country, but thanks to our government it changed it to criticism and anymosity.

That's pretty intense. And depressing.

I broke my leg in three places that morning.

It's been 8 years and I still can't watch those videos for more than a few minutes.

.
The first statement is just ridiculous. As innocents, they are entitled to be concerned.

The second statement is just plain selfish. Thousands of people died and you are whining about your birthday? Please.

the tsunami was a natural disaster and is completely different than a disaster that is caused by and planned by humans that have no respect for others lives

Into what perspective? Are you actually trying to compare a natural disaster to an act of war committed against innocent civilians?

Please explain exactly what you are trying to say with that ridiculous statement that insults the memory of those who died 8 years ago.

Just a guess, but I think he may have been noticing how one sort of castrophe can illicit such widespread and irrational fear and panic while another does not--even though the later was far more deadly.

i've only read the last couple posts but i agree w/this guy.

natural disaster, while it is sad, is WAY different when compared to something that was planned out w/the intention of hurting others.

Ok, I get it now. You're one of the nutcases. Keep drinking that kool-aid. It'll get you far in life.

As for posting that garbage here, it will not be tolerated and will result in post deletions and/or the thread being closed.

Seems to be true. I wonder why though. I believe that discussion of all aspects of that day should be allowed.

I dont claim to know anything, but isnt an open discussion OK?
