LOL they say that there were maybe 30-40 comic shops in the US in the '70s.

New Jersey had 40 IN THE STATE. AT LEAST!

The direct market started in the 70s as comics started failing at news stands.

I still remember vividly shopping for comics in our small town newsstand store and getting yelled at by the guy behind the counter for reading issues I couldn't afford to buy. "If you wanna read em you gotta buy em!" Books were just starting to cost .30 each so I could usually only get three. My jam then was X-Men, Avengers and Defenders. First comic book store I frequented regularly was Golden Apple on Melrose. This doc looks great. Hope you made the cut mwynn!

Thanks, waiting for Wes to announce part two. As the entire comic world has been flipping around since he started this.
