But that's because they shut down their actual HBO cable and standalone services. HBO would still be on a WB service because HBO is through WB, but HBO Max is it's own thing separate from HBO. It's only HBO in name.

They carry HBO content because WB owns HBO. It's no different than Disney+ having shows that didn't air on Disney Channel. It's all under the same thing. It has HBO's name but operates separately from HBO, and they're not even involved with production the way shows on HBO are except for maybe the Sex and the City show since that was an HBO show.
