Be embarrassing for Second Sight if Curzon manage to release Alpha on Blu-ray before they release their long-gestating Titane 4K disc...but good news that Alpha has landed with a respectable distributor.

Titane has been MIA for so long, I have to wonder if there's some sort of issue that has cropped up preventing the release. Neither Altitude or Second Sight have responded to any of my queries though.

Somehow forgot to mention the new Petzold film MIROIRS NO. 3, which I hope may go to MUBI but will more likely end up with Curzon (and receive a streaming-only release, maybe short theatrical run). Such a shame Petzold isn't better regarded, deserves the box set treatment from Curzon but if we're only now getting Haneke, we'll be waiting another decade.

Yeah there might be an issue, I have no idea what but perhaps it's some kind of rights disagreement? A shame as I preferred it to Raw, personally (and much prefer Ducournau's 'brand' of body horror to Fargeat's).

Mubi titles seem to have been removed from the hmv 2 for £15 deal. I was hoping to get Lamb, but it seems that I've missed my opportunity.

I have been hoping for someone to give me Petzold's pre Barbra movies a blu release!

Yes please. Luckily, Yella and Jerichow were recently restored in Germany but no signs yet of any re-releases over here or elsewhere. The label that releases all of his films here is a joke. They only had a DVD for Afire up until a month before its release before they changed their mind and added a BD, so I’m not holding my breath for anything else at the moment.

Of course his earliest films and the occasional TV movies he directed in between his theatrical features are either DVD only or were never released physically.

I have suggested Petzold's earlier films to Radiance a few times over the past years, but Fran sadly said last week that there were no German titles on the horizon.

Sign me up for the Petzold Appreciation Society. His work is criminally under-represented on disc. There’s a few of us who have been crying out for more Petzold on the forums. His recent work needs more distribution and the earlier works would make a fine collection.

I too have suggested Petzold’s films to Radiance (and other companies as well) hoping to see his filmography released on blu ray, which still baffles me that it has yet to be. He is such an outstanding filmmaker that I cannot believe that his films won’t find an audience if released on blu ray. I was particularly shocked when his recent film, UNDINE, did not receive an English friendly blu ray anyway in the world (outside of it being part of an overpriced South Korean Petzold box set, that is now OOP).

Praying MUBI pick up Sentimental Value in the wake of these early reviews. Looks a good shot to win the Palme!

Wondering if MUBI might pick up Mendonça's THE SECRET AGENT.

They’ve just announced that they’ve picked it up in the UK.

That's a shame. Die Katze is one of my favourite Radiance releases so far and like other here I'm a fan of Petzold too.

MUBI better get their physical media operations running on full steam (again) in time for their new titles. They’re amassing a bigger slate of titles, including classics, that do get buried in streaming limbo. There’s too much silence on their part even when it comes to new releases.

There's a number of titles they released that I'm surprised they didn't do for home video here (unless streaming rights meant they couldn't for some of them, as they only started doing physical media around 2019):

The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki (2016)
Have a Nice Day (2017)
Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot (2018)
Madeline's Madeline (2018)
The Wild Goose Lake (2019)
One Second (2020)
A Chiara (2021)
Faya Dayi (2021)
Lingui: The Sacred Bonds (2021)
Prayers for the Stolen (2021)
De Humani Corporis Fabrica (2022)
The Delinquents (2023)
Rotting in the Sun (2023)
The Girl with the Needle (2024)
Grand Theft Hamlet (2024)
Grand Tour (2024)
September Says (2024)

Wondering if they'll do Blu-rays for the following upcoming titles:

Harvest (2024)
Motel Destino (2024)
Pavements (2024)
Hot Milk (2025)
Magic Farm (2025)

Lastly, where the heck is The Fall on 4K? Surely an open goal, bizarre that has already been released in other territories despite MUBI making a big fuss out of getting it for the UK. They also seem to have the recent restoration of The Sacrifice, but again no 4K release? That's even more foolish if you ask me...Tarkovsky in 4K, an open goal.

It is a shame. I was surprised that there wouldn't be some more planned after Der Katze, as often licences are done in multiples. Hopefully it sells well enough for them to go back to the well.

A German title that would definitely fit Radiance is the excellent Folk Horror film Jonathan (1970) which is one of the very few horror movies in which the vampires are immune to sunlight.
