There's been no rumors of what will be released on disc for this or any other in the series prior to or after the release of the last movie.

My MI 1 looks fine but freezes when he first meets Ving in the train. Can fast forward to the next chapter but freezes again, this is getting very tiresome.

Just watched each of my 4Ks of these over the last two weeks leading up to the new flick. All, purchased in '23, worked flawless.

Exactly the same (save for my year of purchase, which was 2018); just finished ROGUE NATION today, gonna knock out FALLOUT and DEAD RECKONING before seeing FINAL RECKONING on Saturday. These movies are just insanely, deliriously entertaining start to finish!

If buy "very tiresome" you mean it happens a lot with 4k discs then I would suggest your player is the issue. It was for me years ago.

I mean a pita. I have about 10-15 discs that played fine when new. When I took them out for an encore, they froze up at some point. I have three 4 k players and the freezes occur at the exact same point regardless of player. All disc look perfect, cleaning doesn’t help, I have to assume that just they mysteriously went “bad” . I treat the discs immaculately and they are stored in a climate controlled environment.

3% failure rate seems high to just accept as normal. Might be worth taking your list to one of the faulty disc threads and get confirmation on it being a known disc issue, player problem, or something new. Some members also have known contact info to get with studios/manufacturers for replacements if needed.

Regardless, that's a number that, if directly attributable to the disc, would be known. As 'velvet mentioned, the player could be a <cough> player in the equation too.

If you actually have three players and it freezes at the same spot on all of them then yeah, I guess that's a disc issue. Really odd to me you'd have that many discs with problems considering I haven't had one in years, but maybe you're just an unlucky guy.

Do you clean your discs with a microfiber cloth? That really does help a lot.

Must be unlucky. These played fine new. Know how to treat discs have a large vinyl collection. Use micro fiber cloths, but only handle discs on the edges like vinyl, so never any prints. Latest issues, Gladiator,Bullet Train , ET and MI 1. These sat untouched for year or so between plays.

Is there much difference between these sets?

https://hmv.com/store/film-tv/4k-ult...collection-(1)

https://hmv.com/store/film-tv/4k-ult...vie-collection

And is it worth upgrading my UK BDs to the UHDs?

Also, I read a some of the recent pages on this thread, and some of the comments on disc rot have me feeling a little reluctant to buy the UHD set.

You miss out on bonus discs from III, Ghost Protocol, and Rogue Nation if you buy this set rather than individual releases - the steelbooks have them though and are currently £14.99 with any purchase (but it doesn’t work properly I had to break up my order to get it to count, and its one cheaper steelbook per other item. So if you just bought all 6 it would average £20. Which is the same as their price in 2 for £40 deals like at Planet of Entertainment). Fallout’s bonus disc is included in the box set however.

Many thanks for your reply and for the information, friend.

I think I'd prefer the smaller package of the boxset, as well as the lower price on sites other than HMV. I don't have much time for extras these days and have not bothered about them like I used to over many years, though I do reminisce about my student days when I used to indulge in them (such as LOTR DVD boxset extras).

The 4ks are a huge upgrade.

Disc rot and whatnot are claims there's always someone making for almost anything. I know of no common issue with these, and many issues with UHDs are actually with players in my experience. Especially third layer problems.
