I watched this Friday with soda and gum. The 3D of course is very very good. I think I give the edge to Carnival of Souls which is the last one I saw. Some of that may be the different environments though. Aren't as many expansive shots in this one and space doesn't make for very good 3D. This is compensated for pretty well though with several strong popouts with ships and other space objects. The movie I'm not so keen on, a lot of cartoonish physics here though I suppose not any worse than say Star Wars. I'm not sure what was gained by making everyone super small. We're never told how big the planet is and they could avoided that brain **** with the Captain shrinking because of gravity. The acting was ok but left a lot to be desired. I never really felt like the astronaut was that upset, past the initial revelation, he had to stay on this planet forever, or that he was falling in love with Zetha. And of course the costumes and special effects are super cringe but I suppose decent enough for the 60s. So if you can look past these things and not take the premise too seriously it's an OK watch. I wouldn't recommend the movie though by itself. The 3D makes it worth it though. No specials on this one.
