We're 2 games into the season, and 1 team is 2-0, the other is 1-1, the 2-0 team beat the 1-1 team, so I think it's logical that the 2-0 team be ranked higher than the 1-1 team. I'm not saying that we should disregard everything that happens in a season like your example, I'm just saying after 2 weeks if a team beats another team and has a better record they should be ranked higher.

I agree with that, I still don't think the certain teams take big enough hits when getting loses, but that could be avoided with no polls and a playoff and just let the top 12 go at it.

Hell, UGA won and still took a hit. LOL. Fell 2 spots in one poll.

Sort of like last year before the Alabama game. Opened the season #1, won the first game but fell. Won the second game and fell again.

They should give bonuses to teams that have rough schedules, I'd take a 10-2 or 9-3(maybe 8-4 depending on how other teams progress) UGA team over almost anyone else whose had 1 lose or undefeated. But that won't happen those factors won't ever get taken into account, to much $$$$ to be made, hyping games and teams.

Side note: OSU 9 total gone 7 drafted, 2 un-drafted
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/tracke...llege-input:37

Oh and SC had 9 taken in the first 5 rounds none un-drafted(well I don't know where that punter is) http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/tracke...llege-input:50

But that number still isn't 11+ the punter + Shareece Wright + a hurt qb + Mays PLAYING WITH A SPRAINED KNEE!
Key Losses: DT Nader Abdallah, OT Alex Boone, LB Marcus Freeman, WR Brian Hartline, CB Malcolm Jenkins, LB James Laurinaitis, TE Rory Nicol, K Ryan Pretorius, G Steve Rehring, WR Brian Robiskie, P A.J. Trapasso, CB Donald Washington, RB Chris Wells

I count 13 players.

Frankly, in a weird way, the opening loss to Oklahoma State has sort of relaxed me for the season. I know we're not going undefeated now, and I'm able to sit back and enjoy watching my favorite team.

I say that now...

I didn't say there weren't 13, but does that matter lol they didn't score a td vs. USC last year and I don't think that defense did anything in that game either 35-3? Fact is that game was Perfect for them to recover and they couldn't close it out. While it was a great! cfb game, neither team deserves to be in the top 12 maybe 15 for USC. But I think even you could admit that close game wasn't like playing a florida, bama,UGA or Omiss team.

I really loved what I saw from Joe Cox motivation wise, and skill wise, I was really pulling for him that game, I just hope he isn't going to be injury prone.

I dont agree. I would agree that there should not be any rankings until after every team has played 3 games (or there is a complete "net").

The dude had the flu against Ok. State (probably swine flu, like our starting Safety, who set a school record with a 100-yard KR for a TD on Saturday, who missed the Ok. State game ).

Can you explain your logic?

Why should a 2-0 team be ranked lower than a 1-1 team that the 2-0 team beat?

Yeah it's just ridiculous. 20+ out for the year in 2008. Already 2 in 2009. The season's young! lol

This needs to be called down as flat out ignorant.

Top 12 teams? How do you measure who are the top 12, and how do you have a 12 team playoff?

Are the top 12 based on record? Does that mean that a 10-2 WAC/USA/Sunbelt team is better/more deserving than a 9-3 SEC team? Is it based on who you beat? Elo-Chess? No, Elo-Chess is basically a poll.

Then, how do you turn 3 winners of the first two rounds of a 12 team playoff into a 2 team championship game?

There would have to be 4 first round byes, like the NFL has with their 12 team playoffs.

Well I'd say if you're gonna go 12 teams, why not go with the 11 conference champions, and 1 at large for the independents.

Because the Sun Belt, MAC, Conference USA, and WAC do not deserve automatic bids. I would prefer they just go to a 16 game tournament like Division I-AA, Division II, Division III, and NAIA has. They could take the 16 highest ranked teams in the BCS rankings and seed the tournament so the top ranked team plays the 16th ranked team and so on. The bowls are too powerful to let this happen though. It would take a desire from the TV networks for that to happen.

I can;

The early season polls have very little mobility because, by nature, they are based on what people THINK they know about the teams.

Oklahoma state, for example, is expected to do well this year, and losing one game to Houston is viewed as an anomaly. Huston is expected to not do as well, and winning one game VS a top 5 team is considered an anomaly.

Because the perceptions are "sticky" for known teams, like Oklahoma State, along with a, perhaps not expected but a "legitimate" win VS a top 15 team, an early season loss does not hurt them as much as it would an unknown team.

That is a HUGE reason why Houston is not ranked higher, and OSU did not fall farther.

The second part of my statement is because until every team is somehow connected (usually happens around week 3/4) the rankings are totally based on preseason perception, and mobility, because of a lack of information, is severely limited, telling me that teams should not be ranked at all until the information is available. You either have teams strangely ranked, or no rankings at all. There is solid reasoning for both, and no way to avoid the outcome of Houston being below Okie State this early.

That is my reasoning. (ie, not that it is right, but that it is unavoidable.)

BTW, the only objective rankings have Houston behind Okie State, and this is also do to not having the interconnection working.
