Can any of the films in this series besides Jurassic Park be considered really good movies? Or pretty good? Or even kinda good? The only one I’ve seen is JP, which is great fun and absolutely fantastic in 3-D.

As I said though, this one is a least worth a watch for the very good 3D! |

Lots of great depth in this one. I’m a die hard Jurassic fan and I actually loved the world trilogy. Will need a 2nd viewing to fully decide on this one. The Dino set pieces were incredible though and there was a lot to love and enjoy. Just a few things that didn’t fully gel with me but I think a 2nd viewing might smooth them out.
This was a wild ride in 4DX though. The Dino set pieces (2 in particular) are some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a theatre. |

Koepp, the writer, is the same writer that wrote Jurassic Park 1, but then also wrote Dial of Destiny Indy film, so he's been losing it maybe over the years. He also wrote Mordecai (Depp), and Crystal Skull Indy. I'm not too hopeful with this story... Just hoping it'll be generally entertaining. If the 3D wasn't good, I wasn't going to see this. Good to hear, thanks! Quote:

Jurassic Park 3 was sorta fun, it redeemed its Nedry character and the idea of the milquetoast husband making a Tony Stark style alter ego to assemble a team of the greatest dino experts + hunters was novel. But the dream sequence and the feathers on the dinosaurs are a tough pill to swallow. For the last JP, the pillarboxing really emphasized the positive parallax, I almost wish all theatrical 3D had some pillarboxing. But having a white background around the picture traded strong enhancement to the 3D for lower picture quality. |

Well if it's a better movie than Dominion that's something I guess but I as definitely hoping for more. Glad to hear the 3D is great!

But I'll give it a chance for the 3D and hope the movie is a slight improvement. There are things I like about each movie, just wish they were more exciting with smarter humans who don't intentionally go into the most dangerous places so often. Although that is what brings tension, being vulnerable against the dinosaurs. Quote:
Even so, it's nice they're still in 3D in theaters. I hope Turbine can get this one licensed for blu ray 3D in 2026. |

I can cosign that the 3D conversion rocks for Rebirth. Unfortunately, I missed the first nine minutes due to my glasses not working, but the depth is very much medium to strong at times. Some of the wide shots of locations do shine. Very much a better experience than Dominion.

I liked Jurassic World Rebirth also. Much better than certain reviews. My wife liked it also. It kept us occupied from start to end and the 3D was good. There were some shots that had the background out of focus and took away the depth. I didn't notice any pops. After seeing Megan 2.0, I was glad to see a decent movie.

I did not expect to be so entertained by this movie.
This felt like a sequel to the fun Kong: Skull Island. The 3D was very good too from the Rafting scene forward. Going into medium to high medium 3D layers. The scene looking down the valley below from the cliff was a great showcase for 3D. Really cool and a fun scene too. While the story is lacking, this was one of the most fun Jurassic movies I've seen in the series. 4/5 I was not expecting that. Quick Jurassic World 4 Rebirth 3D Review: Cinemark 3D theater 3D Layering: Mostly medium layers, some mild 3D, and some high medium 3D layering. 3D Pop Outs: I can't remember any. 3D Framing: Some nicely composed shots of foreground, midground and background layering. Favorite 3D Shots: The steps of streaming mini waterfalls, the awesome view over the cliffs to the valley far below, the rounded rock pointing in the foreground with the arched rock formations in the background. The cornfield with the giant dinosaurs and their long tails. Overall 3D: 7.8/10 Very nice 3D conversion and on par with Kong: Skull Island's 3D. Not as good as Jurassic Park or JWorld 1's 3D, but better than Dominion and Fallen Kingdom's 3D. |

Thanks Levcore! What is really nice about this movie is most of the movie takes place in bright day light for the 3D. The end is at night but was still lit well so the 3D can work. Worth checking out if you like dinosaur and giant monster movies. Really good pacing once they get to the raft onward. It was like one of those theme park amusement rides. Entertaining with a lot going on at each turn.
The 3D Cliff scene, that was great and lasted a good few minutes. Not as great as GI Joe Retaliation 3D's strong 3D cliff scene, but very nice here even so. A little bit of Journey 2's style here for the movie and 3D too. |

I have enjoyed this movie 3 times now - only once in 3D - but I did notice that the scenes that take place in the dark look a lot darker in Dolby Cinema, it's like GE was trying to really push the Dolby Vision range to the limit. Normally that would be bad news for the 3D version, but in that version the darkness isn't even remotely as, well, dark. The 3D is an awful lot of fun, on top of a movie that is itself almost the very definition of old-fashioned fun. |

I've heard that they were thought to have back when JP3 was made. But changing the look of the dinos after 2 films, if they'd kept the same look I wonder if the film would've been given a more fair shake.

I'm liking your impression that the pacing was quick, the other reviews that have made it my way thought it got bogged down because Mahershala and ScarJo both played mostly the same type of character. |
