Anyone else get a bum disc of this? Mine has major motion artifacts around the five-minute mark. Have not had the opportunity to check it on another machine yet.

I watched the first ten minutes, and didn't see any motion artifact issues.

However, the disc would not play on my Sony Playstation 3. I got a message saying that I needed to "update the encryption system." I tested several other BDs (all from different labels) on that deck, and all of those began to play properly.

I played the first ten minutes of PSYCHO BEACH PARTY on my international format deck. I have no idea why it won't play on my Playstation 3.

The AACS must have used a brand new encryption key on this disk that your PS3 doesn't have. A quick internet search seems to say that updating your system should do the trick.

I can't believe I completely forgot about this movie, it's hilarious and the performances are so good. I just received the French Bluray, hope it doesn't have forced subtitles.

Great stuff. When I first heard about Psycho Beach Party (from a post in What are you watching tonight? a few months ago), I put the US Blu-ray on my want list. Glad to see it's getting a new US release (or re-release).

Gregg Araki is ready to bring “Mysterious Skin” into the 2020s: The writer/director will unveil the 4K restoration of the acclaimed 2004 indie at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on September 19 as part of the museum’s overall fall programming slate. Araki will participate in an onstage conversation after the screening with lead star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and novelist Scott Heim, who wrote the source material; Sean Baker will moderate. The 4K presentation comes courtesy of Strand Releasing and will tour theaters next year.
