Well, UV got back to me again regarding them still not having the Long Arm of the Law set despite telling me their backorder should come in within 2-6 weeks 6 weeks ago:
"Sincere apologies for the delay. Unfortunately, I do not have any new updates as we still have not received this item from the supplier but we have placed an order for it so it will definitely arrive at some point. The backorder timeline of 2-6 weeks is just a general estimate that we provide to customers but there are instances where it can take a bit longer since this timeframe is entirely dependent on the supplier. We hope to receive Long Arm of the Law soon and have this item shipped out to you. Again, we apologize for the delay and for any inconvenience this may have caused you." Suppose not much they can do if 88 Films still hasn't sent it to them (though I wonder if the hard case set is out of production like in the UK and they are doing a Standard which would be an entirely different issue). I did, however, suggest, if they are looking into changing certain policies under new management, to not charge their box set surcharge until they actually ship out the item it is being charged for. (Though I'd much rather them drop those alltogether ![]() |

Well, it’s now August 17… And my order from July 19 has still not shipped. When I placed the order, two were in stock, four were backordered, and one was pre-ordered. Since that time, five have been in stock with one still backordered and one pre-ordered.
Contacted them a while back and asked why nothing had shipped yet. They replied saying they only ship when 80% of the order is in stock. I sent them a screenshot of their shipping page which mentioned nothing of this – just that in-stock items would be mailed within 3 to 5 days. They ignored that email lol. |

As for their FAQ page, still hasn't been updated to reflect $2 cost on extra shipping so just more shady stuff. I really avoid them as much as I can. |

At least one title that came back in stock over the past month is now on backorder again. In your experience (or anyone else’s) do they at least reserve copies for your order as each becomes available again, or do 80% all have to be simultaneously in stock before they will assemble and ship it?

Not knowing of this policy in my first few orders with UV, I actually had to wait 14 months once for something to be sent to me because I pre-ordered something that was later delayed. |

Just chiming in that I too have an order from UV placed in mid July that I'm still waiting for. Was my first time trying them out.
I don't think I'll be ordering from them very often unless they have some insanely low price for something I covet. I'm not sure why they have so many problems with their "suppliers" taking forever to get stuff to them. |

Agreed - they’ve had “His Girl Friday” on back-order over a month now despite getting *other* backordered Criterions back in stock. The first time I ordered from them I ended up cancelling the order (about four WAC titles) because it similarly was weeks without movement.

As a contrarian response to reading a lot of over the top impatience on these boards, I find myself making excuses for shipping delays from these guys. "Oh well, what's another week or two," or "I'm sure it's out of their control." (I know, very much the Canadian stereotype on my part.)
But I pre-ordered Cobra in April, man. They have not shipped, they have not been in touch, and their website says it's been in stock even since it's street date on July 22. And yet again, I'm making excuses: "They're probably waiting to send it with my subsequent Texas Chainsaw order, which will likely ship this week." Before you ask, I do resist sending inquiries or complaints in cases like this, because I feel like it ruins the experiment. Just how long will they keep me waiting? |

Isn't this Canada Post strike over as why can't they go back to Canada Post, instead of the Dragonfly delivery service in which I don't care for.

I'm now careful not to mix Warner Archive Blu-rays into any UV order I want quickly, as I've had a few cases where it took around 2 months to receive my purchases because of one of their titles. I received this message from UV helping to shed some light on the situation:
"Just so you're aware, Warner Archive and Allied Vaughn items are all print-to-order, meaning that the supplier doesn't begin the printing process for the item until receiving an order from us." |

Well, as I say it's an experiment. And the mistake is on their part, no? Should I have to pester an online retailer to complete the one service they're supposed to perform? The whole thing feels very stupid. (I do laugh imagining how many emails they get about shipping, packaging, "WHEN?!?!?!" Based on the stuff I see on these boards day after day, that is... not a job I would want.)

If you ordered it along with the TCM that released this week, you’re absolutely right that’s why they waited (given this unwritten ‘ship when >80% of the order is in stock’ rule I’ve now learned about) and hopefully you see it in your mailbox Tuesday!

We have an update for you!
Here are the full details regarding THE WIZ replacement program: We've made a correction to our 4K and Blu-ray editions of THE WIZ to fix issues with the feature ATMOS soundtrack. We have also added an additional soundtrack to the release, the original theatrical 70mm 6-track soundtrack. Please note that we are prioritizing replacements for fans who pre-ordered directly from Criterion.com, so those will go out first in the coming weeks, but anyone who has these first pressing discs is eligible for a replacement, regardless of where it was purchased. If you would like us to add you to our queue now, please send us the following: Your name and US or Canadian mailing address that will be valid for at least the next month; please type this information out in the body of the email A photo of the defective disc(s) with your name and date written on the front/art side (using a sharpie or paint marker - you can write this info on the lighter portion of the disc, and take a photo against a light source so your name and date are visible). You do not need to break the disc. Note that if you purchased the 4K UHD + Blu-ray version, we need a photo of both marked discs; if you have the Blu-ray version only, a photo of the single disc is sufficient A snapshot of your original purchase receipt, if available Replacement discs are estimated to start going out in late September to mid October. Tracking will be emailed to you automatically from our Pitney shipping account once the discs are being packed. Finally, please hold on to the issue disc(s) for now but discard them as soon as the replacement versions are received successfully. If you have not yet purchased THE WIZ or plan to purchase additional copies, it will be back in stock later this month (September) and the updated version will have the text SECOND PRESSING on the cover art and the discs. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=228 |
