I agree the open matte presentation works best if only because the 1:85 crops butts and bush. Doesn't make any sense to put that front and centre of shots and then crop it out.

I remember Stanley asking me if what aspect ratio I preferred when he was beginning to shoot the film. I told him to make sure he was able to do both 4:3 for current TV and to future proof it because there would soon be these new 16:9 TVs with four times the resolution of DVD. We then went to the arcade and I beat him several times at Donkey Kong.

I think there was like 1% hope anybody would tidy up all the garbage they did to the unfinished film. I wasn't asking much, but I guess it's just old hat now. Nobody wants to dig this up or give it any more attention least of all Hollywood lmao. I'm surprised they even cared to release it.

I was actually just hoping they would fix all the sound and edit issues that Kubrick would have never left in a finished film. It was sloppy as work if you ask me. I still kind of get pissed when certain sequences play out. They seem roughly done sometimes. Movie is still stellar though, and it's easy to overlook these things.

Whatever the case, Tom and Nicole are two people that actually know what was on the full unfinished cut, but they haven't said a single word and never will. The industry obviously wanted this film to go away. A few more crew obviously know what was shot as well. We simply don't get those interviews I can only wonder why.

The problem is that it was made already. Kubrick was fairly secretive about it too, but they had to know some things were going to be in it. How much he kept from people I don't know. I do know he did use some compartmentalization during filming though as some others in the industry also do for various reasons.

Absotively. Given that Kubrick was always known for tweaking up to the very last second... and beyond (making editing changes to those 2 films AFTER theatrical release), it's extremely likely there would have been things that would have been different in EWS had Kubrick lived to finish the film.

I find speculation about that interesting and fun, as long as people don't get all serious, angry and convinced that only they have the truth of what changes an enigmatic genius might have made.
