Region B, it's still available on eBay. Highly recommended for 3D enthusiasts.
Hi Joe. I remember enjoying that one too. It's been a long while (and you've reminded me to give it another look), but I recall several of those photos looking quite badly (I thought) converted, rather than genuine stereo. I think my assumption at the time was that the left or right eye had needed a lot of restoration and they ended up with a 3D image that might as well have been from a 2D original. I could be wrong about that - but I think that may have been their cunning plan...

I also remember thinking that there are much better stereo photos taken from the US civil war half a century earlier - I wonder if anyone knows of any 3D documentaries that used those? I'd love to see one of (at least) the same quality as that Tony Robinson one.

Hi Sam,

Think many of those photos were actually in 2D only, that's why I noted "many". There is a disc with 3D from the civil war: Stereographs: 3D Portals To The Past Episode One: Photographs From The American Civil War

Interesting, thanks Joe, I didn't know about that one. I have a couple of volumes of a book called The Civil War in Depth, from about maybe twenty five years ago which are filled with beautifully haunting battlefield 3D photos, so it could be powerful to see more of those up on a big screen.

I just picked up three new ones.

It Came From Outer Space
The Polar Express
The Good Dinosaur

That first one is mainly for me, but the other two I thought would be fun to watch with my daughter.

Just again watched A*P*E, a 1976 release from South Korea. This is another low budget ($23,000 or $123K today) "it's so bad it's good" film shot in just 14 days.

But even though occasionally a strain for the eyes the 3D has great depth filled with gimmick popouts and thus is a must for the 3D collector. Remember, "it's so bad it's good".

Hi Joe, really liked the commentary track on A.p.e

Anyway Just watched this and it's great in 3d . The wasp women
The Wasp Woman
*(1959)

Janice Starlin's cosmetics company has started to lose sales, because its marketing relies on her own once-impressive but now aging beauty. The eccentric Eric Zinthrop develops an enzyme extract from royal wasp jelly, which rejuvenates Janice, with one tiny little side effect: it turns her into a monster!

I finally opened and watched my copy of Clash of the Titans 3D. I really like this movie and the 3D was good enough for me though my eyes were hurting not sure if from the 3d or just tired. But some scenes had a wierd effect. Sometimes the back of peoples heads would be 3D and not the rest of the head so the hair looked funny. Same with a scene with pegasus' legs.

other than some minor issues, I think its a good movie. Cant wait to see Wrath in 3d next.

Completed my "Cabanon" doubleheader: The Martian. Though not nearly on the intellectual and artistic level of the aforementioned A*P*E (LOL) this is science fiction and 3D working together at it's best. 'Nough said.

Just finished watching Turbo. (The snail is fast!). I had grabbed a used copy since it was a good price, but didn't expect it would be anything great. Much to my surprise, I ended up really liking it. I thought the 3D was very well done. and the story was entertaining and fun. The voice actors were very good, too.

No. It's the 3rd Jaws. The first Jaws in native 3D. Jaws 3-D.

Hi Law,

Just watched both. Though still mild I found the 3D in Clash a bit stronger now than I recalled. Part of this I'm sure is due to the calibration on my set done about a year ago. This extra tweaking brought out a bit more depth than I recalled (without over saturation that causes excessive and thus distorted 3D). Will not deny this is still not a disc one should use as a demo but it's not a total failure either - more a disappointment as to what could have been.

Wrath was a major improvement. Very good depth, spatial separation and popouts with excellent color saturation and detail.

I much prefer to have a proper 3D blu-ray disc, professionally manufactured, than a fix like that. In an ideal world, all these movies that have a 3D DCP master would be licensed to a certain german company that has been doing wonders lately.
Discs are just storage mediums. There is no such thing as a '2K disc', a '4K Disc, or a '3D Disc'. The only differential is size.

Of course discs are just storage mediums but but CDs are not the same as DVDs which are not the same as Blu-rays.

And then there are different types of each disc and different materials used in making them, as evidenced by the discs that have rotted over the years.

Ultimately a disc with a single layer of data is going to be more reliable than one with several layers of data.

So there are lots of differentials really.

A while ago I remember defending Godzilla Vs Kong as not having great 3D but still giving nice scale. With new kit and better calibration I see that I was Wrong! The action scenes in GvK look awesome are clearly designed to be watched in 3D. Then the beautiful colors and scenery adds massively to the whole experience.

I'm going to beat the proverbial dead horse here, about how 3D movies are often made too dark in general and it is Far easier for the studio to increase the brightness than it is for me to do so at home.

It's funny how some on here are complaining about 3D movies being too bright after some studios did this. Now you are complaining that they are too dim? I don't use 3D glasses so I should be seeing the difference but so far I've never had a major issue. But either way, GvK is beautiful and the action scenes look like they were designed for 3D.
