Just watched the movie this evening and enjoyed it a lot. Not only is the story still well entertaining. The 3D from Illumination Studios is again absolutly excellent with lots of depth and effective camera angles. Some great popouts are included as well. The Atmos sound is also very dynamic and effective. So technically this title is IMO superior to Panda 4. But both are nice films.

I like the fact that it is full screen, like the first one, which helps to enhance the 3D effect

This was a breath of fresh air. The depth maybe wasn't as strong as I remembered but to have plenty of genuine (lingering, no chance of missing them) pop-outs in a 2025 film is a rare pleasure. I get the story complaints, it does feel like haphazard tire spinning but, even viewed as a collection of set pieces it's a lot of fun. The infiltration of the school using baby equipment is genuinely inspired.

But it also feels kind of unnecessary, nothing new added. And I would have liked it if the girls would age at some point. They've been exactly the same the entire series, it's like the Simpsons that way I guess. Even if it was just 2 years or something it would have been nice, give them teenager problems to deal with, other than Gru being awkward lol. Anyway, while the story is kind of throwaway the 3D is excellent so I definitely recommend if you have a way to watch it. If Turbine gets this on physical I will buy it!

As I saw it now on 3D blu-ray I was struck by just how good the 3D depth is. It was definitely stronger than I remember it being, though not necessarily stronger than described above. I didn't even remember saying I would definitely buy this, glad I did though. I also liked the movie a lot more this time around. The girl blackmailing Gru is a riot. And I also really the "Double Life" son (what will Gru do tonight that's the question) that plays at the stat and in the credits. The daughters are adorable even if they suffer from Simpsons aging syndrome. The only bummer is once again no specials. I don't have the UHD so there was nothing to reflect on it with, it's just done. Some day Turbine will fix this setup I'm sure. Anyway, I still have Panda 4 and F&F 10 and the cat movie to catch up on now. Definitely get this one before tariffs in a week if you don't have it.
