I would only consider it a slap in the face if they took out BC from the PS3 only so they could resell old PS2 games while not allowing people to play their existing PS2 games on their PS3.

I think people expecting PS2 games on the PSP/Go are setting themselves up for disappointment, because the PSP just doesn't have the power the PS2 did. Every higher end PS2 game which is converted will take a lot of time, and not be as solid of a game (Disgaea 2 feels sluggish on the PSP, and I don't think D2 is a "higher end PS2 game").

Fascinating stuff here: Dreamcast and PS2 games on PS3 would be very cool. But will it be all PSN, or will there also be disc based SKUs? If the added BC to all PS3s meant disc games would also play, they could see about doing more of those trilogy box sets for PS2. And they need to get Capcom in on this: they made lots of great games on both DC and PS2.
$99 seems a bit steep for a Sonic Collection..would it include even more games than are in Mega Collection and Gems Collection combined? |

Are ppl still buying PS2 games nowaday?
I love Sega games. They got some fun games that you can play over & over again not so much with PS2. |

Not if they're going the software emulation route.
DC games on PSN is awesome, the idea of all PS2 games on PSN is even more awesome. The leaked notes read like my wishlist for SCEA... problem is, some of my wishes have downsides. The only thing I'm worried about is the Japanese import store; 99% of the unlocalized games I'm interested in are profoundly dialog-heavy... they wouldn't translate just the menus and not the dialog of something like RGG:Kenzan, would they? And if they did, would that effectively kill the chances of that title ever getting properly localized? Or are they talking minimal necessary translation, like important dialog subtitled + menus and nothing else? And the most important thing, would it apply to more than just PS3 (and presumably PSP) games? Still, the idea of a Japanese Import section for PSN is very exciting. The PS2 emulator actually doesn't surprise me too much, knowing Sony, they would announce full PS2 BC a little while after announcing something like the GoW collection. Now all they have to do is actually announce it (I've been half expecting that at TGS, as I do at every major tradeshow ![]() edit: Quote:
I'm sure that if DC titles are emulated we'll have to rebuy them; although I've joked about it several times I doubt the PS3 can be convinced to even recognize DC discs. Besides, I suspect these are probably ports like what the 360 has been getting. Last edited by androvsky; 09-22-2009 at 03:12 PM. |
