I've no problem continuing to post news about new US WAC releases of REGION FREE discs that are as easy to import as to buy domestically. They're the same releases for pete's sake, not US editions. What difference does it make what store you buy them from?

Oh maybe something to do with this thread being called WARNER ARCHIVE COLLECTION UK, any posts talking specifically about the US range with no direct comparison/reference to a UK release just fills it up unnecessarily. We KNOW they are region free and easily imported, thats not the point, its about staying on topic and keeping discussions in the right place. Im sick of accessing this thread to see if it has any latest release news just so see folks going on about the US range, do that in the US thread.

Yes, expensively imported these days. I remember waiting 'till the price came down to £15 before ordering (didn't have to wait long, a few weeks). I imported two recently & they were a bit over £28 each (Wow). I have to admit that I haven't bought any UK Warner releases, as any title they released that I wanted, I'd already own. I'm going to carry on importing, as I'm not waiting 2-5 years for a possible UK release...that probably won't happen now.

Unless you're waiting for a sale, the best option these days is getting them in AllYourMusic's buy 3, get 20% off offer on Ebay. The new ones tend to be around £25, so you can get them for £20 each this way, sometimes cheaper.

Is this the best way to do it? Does this offer tend to come around at particular times? Do they have everything not OOP?

I'm at the point now where I have all the UK titles I want and an ever increasing list of US only WAC titles but have held off so far. Would be economical on shipping now at least.

The offer is pretty much permanent these days (it used to be even better - buy 2, get closer to 25% off). They have most titles in print, but not everything, and sometimes titles go out of stock, in which case they're delisted and then relisted once they come back in stock.

If you search 'Warner Archive Blu-ray' on their Ebay store, it's currently bringing up 201 results.

You might be better off waiting another 6 months and doing a Movie Zyng sale order for about 10 titles at a time as they become cumulatively cheaper and cheaper due to stacked postage. Also, keep an eye on Amazon - often you can edit the URL of a .com US page to a .co.uk (delete all the bumph after the product code and final slash) to generate a UK-friendly page and see the UK delivered price, which sometimes but not always unlocks the US discounts over here.

I've got about 120 of them plus the same again on DVDR and I've never paid over the odds.

I know Gypsy and Deathtrap were released by Warner as part of the Premium Collection.

Thanks!
I've not seen any update on this, so just to answer my own question, the UK disc of Fearless is still a BD-25 and appears to be the exact same disc released in the US in 2012, just with BBFC logos added.

At least it's a hell of a film.

Thanks. Movie Zyng appear to have more of the titles I want. Just a waiting game now then. No hardship - plenty more to acquire in the meantime!

Where did you get these titles from? None of these are up on HMV yet.

Take a look at this previous post. You won't find them on HMV yet as they as US announcements (so far).

Oh FFS. Thanks.

Silly me, expecting the Warner UK thread to be about Warner UK releases.

I know right. It's a shame cos I like the look of Black Samson too. I feel like WAC UK doesn't get the same love as the US. Maybe it's because of rights issues.

I wonder if the UK intern who handles Warner Archive is away for the summer? I suppose they have to go back home to actually save a bit of cash, so they can later return to Warner Bros UK and continue trickling out the goods to us peasants...

If you count the revamp of the now-inaccurately-named Premium Collection, there have been more WAC UK releases in the last 2 or 3 months than at any other time previously. Maybe that's where their priorities have switched going forward, given that WAC UK was only ever a response to HMV stopping the original Premium line anyway.

To add to the ongoing fracas about people talking about the US line in the UK thread - it might help to note that on the Extras podcast George is very open about the US line being open to an international audience and doing good export business. It's not the same as other labels that have US/UK parallel lines, it's just a way of extending the sales potential for certain kinds of titles.

I feel like we can't give the intern too much credit for essentially pressing 'reprint' on a bunch of OOS items (similarly, when the Criterion UK intern does the same for an obvious 4K upgrade). I doubt the Premium Collection was Warner-initiated, it screams someone was keen for it internally at HMV and managed to convince Warners to back their idea, but ultimately it didn't perform as well as they'd hoped and WB got itchy feet and switched to just releasing Warner Archive titles over here.

Anyway, I'd love another 2 for £15 offer to pop up before the end of the year, as there are plenty of titles I still have my eye on that weren't included in the previous one:

[Show spoiler]

And some I didn't pick up last time but would be interested now:

Premium collection was started by Warner UK, and it wasn't originally a hmv exclusive. Some of them turned up other places to start with, a couple even ended up in Poundland.
HMV 'adopted' the line as an exclusive, and from there branched out to other labels.

It's not the only time this has happened; a UK label (Odyssey I think?) started a line of low budget horrors called 'Hardgore' that Poundland soon adopted as their exclusive, and promptly reached out to other fly-by-night outfits like ILC.

I'm not privy to how the arrangements worked between HMV and the labels who participated in the Premium Collection, but the line didn't live up to its name when it lost both the dvd and digital copies. After that they were just routine releases with fancy slipcovers.
