It's good news that we're finally getting the Archive officially. But a lot of folks will be waiting for the first multi-buy offer.

Hopefully the Premium Collection continues with other studios as well.

Judging by how quiet things have gotten for the past good few months I think we're probably seeing the PC in its death throes tbh. WBs were undoubtedly the cornerstone of the catalogue and with them and Paramount seemingly bailing it really only leaves Sony and Universal, and there's a good number of boutiques mining their libraries already.

You'd like to think that WBs have been eyeing the HMV/PC venture and seeing how well it's performed and won't change the formula too much, ie regular sales, low RRPs etc.

Yeah, I will be tempted by the odd title but personally was happy paying £7.50 a title. Think I'll be happier if they're at least a tenner (or less) at some point. I'm sure HMV will have offers still, as will Warner Bros/TheEntertainmentStore and other retailers too. If anything this basically strips away all the tat and also makes these available from more places, as well as less restriction to the kind of titles we were seeing at HMV (they were likely hand-picked by at least a few people, whereas WB will be choosing what they put out here).

Not sure PC will continue at this rate, with Paramount seemingly pulling out as well as they've reissued their last batch of PC titles as regular releases. I'm sure Universal will do the same with the few they did for the collection, and not sure MGM were really in it...that only leaves Sony to be honest, and most of their library will be licensed to the likes of Indicator, Arrow and Eureka, if not released themselves.

The one thing I will miss is the clear cases. Presumably they won't use the slim blue cases in the UK market, so it'll be the standard-sized amarays. Wish they'd go slimline and use the clear ones that Network use, they're very nice, best of both worlds.

This is very nice news. I saw Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House rated on BBFC, and was wondering if it was getting some sort of BD release. A bit strange that they don't appear to be branded like the US releases (which some will probably prefer anyway)

I'm not bothered about the front branding, but the spines at least look the same as the US releases, so for the sake of consistency (for those of us who've imported a fair few WA titles down the years) it'd be great if they used slim cases.

Yes, the images look identical to the US releases apart from the branding. I imagine they'll use the thicker UK cases though, but who knows.

Bringing out as many new US releases as possible near simultaneously here is my wish otherwise I'll just carry on importing most likely.

Marvelous news! Being able to import some of these from the UK rather than the US will make things a little less expensive in the long run, which I welcome.

I really like the HMV Premium Collection, but being from Germany, the ones I got (around 20) are only from visiting the UK or from eBay. And I happily paid full price since there was never a sale when I was around. Importing from the US got very expensive because of the VAT threshold, so this is really amazing news! I love the original cover art and of course the always great transfers. There's plenty movies I newly discovered with the WB Archive, and a lot I re-watch often. Can't wait to get them now from the UK

Warner Archive were operating in the UK a decade ago, but as a DVD-R line.

Yeah, quite liked the little WA logo but not torn up about them ditching it for the UK releases. More interested if they do use slim cases or not...hopefully they do, as I actually prefer them (obviously take up far less room).

Noticed on the email from Warner Bros themselves that they describe these as exclusive from them, so guessing we won't see these in-store at HMV/Fopp. Interesting, guess there's now a reason to order from them!

Since the German VAT threshold I sadly imported less and less. The Wishlist is large. These are the ones I got (some German titles included at the end of the row..):

Bugger - it was only last year that I bought a pressed-clone of Night Shift from Spain.

I would think that there would be no problem with 'rights' as most (if not all) of these titles are owned by Warners world-wide or least North America and Europe?
