I was looking again this week, refreshing my mind, at the Wikipedia section for Simon & Simon. The original pilot "Pirate's Key" which was later re-jigged and turned into a feature-length season 2 episode, was filmed in Florida. The first season I thought was also filmed there, when in fact it wasn't (it was where part of Harry O's first season was filmed, where the show was set (San Diego). Season 2 of Simon & Simon onwards was filmed in Los Angeles. The reunion TV film In Trouble Again was filmed in Seattle, Washington state.
I remember the feature-length season 4 premiere "C'est Simon" was filmed on location in France. I thought that was it where the show was filmed away from Los Angeles. Which brings me to the latter of two episodes that actor Robert Lansing guest starred in as private investigator Sam Penny, season 5's "Reunion at Alcatraz". I vaguely remember the episode, but not if it was actually filmed on location in San Francisco (I checked the IMDb's page for the episode and it doesn't have any filming and location information. There is one screenshot on the page, but it's difficult to tell if it's San Francisco in the background and the grounds of Alcatraz in the foreground). |
