I wonder if A24 will release their own version in the US.

I thought Baker's films were with Criterion?

Went with the standard from Atomic.

It's a blind buy, so I don't want to spend $50 ish if I don't care for it that much. Also, shelf space is getting somewhat low. Would rather save the "chunkies" for movies I know that I love!

His pre-A24 ones are. I believe he even said somewhere A24's lack of prioritizing films they didn't fully produce after the release lead to him switching to Neon. Wouldn't surprise me if physical media played a part in that. He's one of us.

Audio is listed as Dolby Digital 5.1. That can't be right, can it? Has Second Sight ever made the mistake of listing DD instead of DTS HD before?

I noticed that too, surely we won't be getting lossy DD in this day and age...

That's not correct, it'll be DTS-HD MA 5.1.

They likely ported the specs over from the Pusher trilogy, which they also advertised as having Dolby Digital 5.1 but surely will be lossless on disc as well.

Yeah, that's correct for PUSHER. We'd never author anything that isn't a DVD with lossy main feature audio unless there was a really good reason.

I’ve been regularly refreshing this thread for months, waiting for an update. I just pre-ordered the limited edition. I feel a little gross spending ~$60 for a single movie, but it is one I love and will appreciate having the special physical items for.

Totally love the artwork it fits the film well and probably the best collector box SS have done.

At least it's different from their cookie-cutter drab green/blue ink.

I think the artwork is fine but don't feel strongly either way about it. Opted for the standard BD either way, even though I'm sure the native 4K presentation will look lovely.

Side note: If you live in the US and want to get the standard BD, email Kyle @ Atomic to special order it for you, because he, Orbit, and Diabolik are not listing as many standalone BD units in general these days.

Marc @ Orbit actually mentioned on his Instagram live two days ago that the reason for this is because 4Ks generally bring in the most sales for them when 4K is available.

Edit: Ended up getting the SE Blu-Ray canceled and opting for the LE 4K.

THE NICE GUYS takes the cake for the best Second Sight artwork to date IMO.

That said, I am very very very curious to see what the artwork for POSSESSION and TITANE will look like; intend to get the LE 4K + BD box sets for both.

Yeah, I like it it's got nards.

They've definitely got a new desginer because there's no way on this green Earth these massively varied designs -from their bland eco handwash bottle design- comes from the same loins. Or the China factory that makes this stuff run out of green ink.

Anything original is cool and if they want to play with it that's fine but their previous cookie-cutter designs are skank. It loosens the connection to my memory of the film.

Cool.

Broken bubble jet printer look.

It appears the original release master for this movie was 4K SDR, so if A24 did there is a good chance it would be a 4K SDR release. This might also be why A24 only bothered to release a Blu-ray in the first place, as 4K SDR discs don't sell as well as 4K HDR discs.

I try to be very selective with the Second Sight LEs I buy in part due to cost but mainly due to shelf space, but I decided to get my SE BD preorder canceled and go for the LE 4K (also from Atomic, of course), because I knew I'd regret not making the LE 4K jump for this one once those screencaps pop up.

Also, have to say I've warmed up towards the artwork!

I watched this last night in advance of making an order - wouldn’t describe it as something I loved but at the same time I have adhd and I watched an almost-2-hour movie in under 2 and a half hours which reflects how much I liked it. Anyway, I’ll share the deal I got (I’d not spend over £40 on a movie unless it was one of my all-time favourites):

The Florida Project 4K LE - £40.84 @ Rarewaves

With the 10% code RWAUGUST comes to £36.75 - RRP is £44.99 so this is damn near equivalent to the sorely missed HMV 20% referral discount!

ends 9am UK time!
