Good thing none of the goons tried to shoot him in the face! LOL

You could also I spose have some kind of plot with such a character faking a supernatural nature to further their ends.

The latter might actually work quite well IMHO, Batman as a kind of Amazing Randi like debunker.
A lot of people say Reeves Batman world is really grounded and you can't do X, Y, Z villain but I swear if you actually got a really great design for the characters and did a great job on any prosthetics and CGI work, you could most definitely introduce a darker Else worlds type Clay Face, Mr Freeze etc.

HELL, I'd say Mr Freeze would work really well and be grounded down for Reeves a good amount to nudge into that side and then continue it onwards to introduce characters like Poison Ivy etc.

My only gripe with the Batman movie as it started is that Bruce Wayne as a character just isn't around properly in the world. He's basically an emo recluse. I wonder if they will find a way for this version to better balance his daytime persona as a playboy and show him trying to once again use that to get info when it's not night and he can't be Batman.

We got a glimpse of Bruce when he attends the funeral at the church, and then that car breaks through. He switches to Batman again, but I still question why he stood there till the timer reached 0:00. I guess he really wanted the answer from the corrupt detective from the SUV.

I really enjoyed Batman wearing his mask most of the movie though. What a switch up from mostly Bruce Wayne in the other films.

---------------
While I think tighter pacing would help, I still enjoyed The Batman and the slow trickle tends to be Reeves' style of storytelling over 3 hours. Some won't have the patience though over 3 hours.

When he showed up as Bruce Wayne, it wasn't done so as a way to upkeep this Playboy persona of Bruce Wayne but he was there actively trying to investigate something he could only do as Bruce Wayne. Funnily enough, even though during the day is when he seems forced to do so as Bruce Wayne, we saw him go to the Iceberg Lounge as Bruce took when he directly went to confront Falcone about the connection to his father.

I still think the best way we ever got to see Batman and Bruce Wayne as two sides of the same coin is in Batman: The Animated Series but live action TDK probably comes close showing it off and there was a moment in BvS.

I just wish for something that seems to make it more organic though.

But yeah in generally movie sequels shouldn't normally be something a studio wants four or five years to bring to market. Two-to-three is much better to capitalize on momentum gained.
Gunn is purposefully sabotaging this movie. He hates that there's currently a beloved batman who is completely different from his intended vision and that this movie is more successful than his Superman.

Doubt Gunn would give him all the time Reeves needed to write the script if they were just going to cancel it. But i mean go ahead and keep trying to make stuff up.

He didn't give him all the time. Reeves handed a script with Clayface as the villain. Gunn didn't like it and told him to rewrite it, then he threw some shade at how slow he is in an interview.

Next thing that'll happen - the movie will be postponed again, we'll hear rumors about issues in production, then it'll be cancelled and there will be an interview with Gunn where he'll say "it's nobody's fault, it just didn't work out. These things happen sometimes".

I absolutely loved The Batman, but it's my third most anticipated CBM of 2027.
