Got a PS5 Sony DS controller for 49.99 new in black on sale, just to have a spare controller. So far, my 11/2020 PS5 console controller has been flawless, going on year 3 now into 2023. I keep it plugged in 24/7. I don't like recharging controllers. I sit close enough to the console, there's no point for me to go wireless.

I tried to go wired but one of the PS5 System updates caused my premium USB braided cables to constantly lose connection. Even tried other new spare cables, same deal. They were 10ft. The standard short cable that came with the PS5 works so at least I can update the controller if, when need be. I rotate my launch 2020 console controller with the black variant controller released the following year. 100% wireless now. Though I’m still planning on paying the $300 to get the DualSense Edge. If it’s better than the stock controller, I’ll probably retire the console Controller & use the Edge & Midnight Black one. 2 months to wait for Edge. ![]() |

Has anyone here bought a DualSense Edge controller and, if so, could you highlight the differences between one and the normal DualSense? I loved the PS4 controller, but something with the PS5 controller makes my hands and thumbs hurt when I play for more than a few hours. I know you can change and customize the sticks with the Edge, so if that were to make it more comfortable, I wouldn’t mind making the $200 investment.

Derb on the forum bought one i believe and wasn't overly impressed with the battery lofe and its also why Sony hasn't released a DualSense Back Button which i am dying for them to bloody well do so. If you want a more comfortable time playing with the regular controller, my honest suggestion would be to go find some softer thumb grips to place on top of the plastic thumb grips that come as stock. Personally never had any issues with the thumb grips in comfort terms, but they have worn away and thumb grips are a great backup to make em go further without replacing the entire controller. One last thing i would mention is that generally it seems like the "feel" is off depending on which thumb grips you go with, so maybe do a bit of research and you can buy a few different heights for different games. The lowest ones are basically like the standard ones, raised are like 1.5x the size and higher are about 1.75 to 2x the size in some cases. Personally the raised higher right stick works well for finer control in shooting games and the lowest for everything else for me when i used to use them on my DualShock 4. |

I don’t recommend the DualSense Edge. Weighs more & the new Grip is Rubber so your hands get warm after 1 hour of gameplay. |

Curious if anyone here uses gyro controls, aiming in an FPS or steering in a driving game, etc. It’s a feature I haven’t though of since Lair, unless it is forced in game (like Astro Bot, or Aperture Desk Job on Steam Deck) I have no desire to use it. I have seen others talk about how great it is and lament that whatever game they are discussing doesn’t support it. So what’s the verdict, are gyro controls additive or just shoehorned in to justify the six-axis sensor?

The Ghost of Yotei dualsense is up for preorder on PS Direct, Walmart and Target right now. Strangely enough, Target isn't giving free shipping or the usual 5% discount? I was going to place my order through them but after seeing this I'm sticking with my PS Direct order.
