Dolby Vision versions will update more frequently on your display than on your 4K player. My LG OLED C2 gets OS updates every few weeks, and DV updates with about every second or third OS update.

If there are issues playing back DV disks it's possible that could be fixed with a DV version update. For the LG they aren't seperate updates, part of the entire OS update bundle.

[Show spoiler]Here is a breakdown of the available "Picture Type" settings:
Normal: This is the standard, all-purpose setting. It provides a neutral, natural-looking image that is suitable for most content.
Cinema: This mode is designed to replicate the color and tone of a commercial movie theater. It typically adjusts the color temperature and contrast for a warmer, more film-like appearance.
Fine Cinema: A more refined version of the "Cinema" mode. This setting is intended for serious movie enthusiasts, offering an even more accurate and subtle film-like presentation.
Retro Cinema: This mode applies a stylistic, retro look to the image. It is meant to evoke the feeling of classic films and is not intended for accurate or realistic reproduction.
Animation: Tailored for animated films and shows, this mode enhances the colors and contrast to make them more vibrant and vivid.
Live: This setting is best for live events, such as concerts or sports. It is tuned to produce a brighter, sharper, and more dynamic image to match the "live" feel of the original content.

Out of curiosity, what's everyone else view on these? I keep going back to "normal," but "fine cinema" sounds like the best approach outside of "normal."

The things they mentioned are underlying issues with the player's implementation, not the display's. Certain issues were fixed in the previous updates to the player, like the freezing at a key moment in the UK Knives Out UHD when played in DV, and the flickering on the Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon UK UHD when played in DV. There's nothing that even the latest firmware update on a TV can do if the incoming signal is pre-borked by the player.

And kids, if you want the purest signal out of the Pannys that they can manage (I say that because there's no source direct feature) then just leave them on normal for picture mode.

So is this setting for SDR content only, where is the setting?

edit: nevermind found the info, good to know I will keep on normal

Yes, I was asleep when you asked, so I wasn't able to reply earlier. It would be interesting to know exactly what this function does when used. But, I've got a feeling this is just the players local contrast function as it does seem to sort of work in that way. If it's actually that, than people got additional settings. Since most TVs usually just have 3 for local contrast. Though, most would use the lowest setting, if at all, because the higher settings tend to ruin the picture (most notably on animation features).

Can you tell me where the setting for 'Normal' picture quality is?
