Like I said newly self appointed "earthlings", please start packing your OCD credentials and return them to headquarters as of January 2, 2010...OCD status is like elite status with an airline and you must qualify every year

P.S. I lost my status a while back...I now fly Steelbook coach

Haha I'll never get there since I am way to picky. Don't like foreign languages as the title or those rating logos for the recent German Covers. Its expensive enough at the rate I am going and with all the Disney stuff coming out heehe.

I feel you tiger ... I'm actually surprised that you guys have made it this far...I knew that it was not sustainable for my wallet (and marriage, sanity) some time ago and had to rearrange my collecting priorities. It's hard to see them go by and not in my shelf you eventually you start coping .

Well I wonder what will happen next...
I said so much in the past and didn't respected it like that "line" I kept drawing a little further...
But now that tons of money is involved I might have to rethink my priorities...
Do I really need 5 identical T2s?
2 set of James Bond?
The amazon.fr and FNAC movies?
2 set of Disney Steelbooks?
Or 5 FF VII? (the worse is that I'm still looking for the 6th)
I hope 2010 will be my year, 2009 have already been too expensive!.

Cheers,
Gui.

Yes, I think that priorities are what it is all about now as the volume of steelbooks is taking far to big of a chunk out of my wallet.

No, we don't need 5 identical T2's, .........., or especially the 6 FFVII stickerbooks (and yes I will keep looking for the 6th ), but that big question remains, what will come next ....

Will it be a single copy of each release? Or will it be copies with different artwork? Or will it be only movies that we like?

Or the worst of all, will it be movies that we see in each other collections?

"Oh, he has that one, maybe I should get it as well"

It will be an interesting change, but it will change.

Cheers
CrashKelly

Well, there is a START and there is an END to all things..., and a lot of things in between.

Even I am obsessed with the steels but i would not buy the same movie twice, cos i want it all. But sometimes i would like to have 2 different covers like I am Legend Canadian & German cos they both look different. But buying T2 steels from all countries released is a whole different level of obsession.

But hey, it's just my way of looking at things.

All the best which ever route you take.

Not to mention the tons from a lot of countries!

FS and MM alone will release at the very least 42 SBs by the end of the year!
I'm pretty sure I'll have over 200 differents Blu-Ray Steelbooks by the year's end!

Being an OCD isn't funny anymore, a whole more complicated than it use to be... Even when I was catching up on the releases I used to miss!

The struggles continue.

Cheers,
Gui.

You must speasialize. For me it was easy. I only collect steelbooks with finnish subtitles. And I only buy one of each. The one that has the best artwork to my eye.

It was pretty obvious that the blu-ray steelbook market was about explode. And to be honest I believe that this is just the beginning. Scanavo has modified their production lines to produce blu-ray steelbooks and now they have the capasity to lower the prices and answer to the massive volumes required by worldwide releases.

I believe that in 2010 we will see multi country releases one after another. I also believe that we will see movie collections. Not only single releases but a collection with multiple movies all packet individually in a single steelbook. I just hope that there will also be smaller exclusive releases around the world. That's what makes the collecting fun.

Just as a small look into the madness of being and OCD Completist collector, with the just announced German Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen BD Steelbook, I currently have 46 registered pre-orders and am missing out on 4 of the confirmed FutureShop BD Steelbooks that are upcoming.

The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen BD Steelbook was pre-ordered for me before I even knew it existed

That brings it up to 50 BD Steelbooks by the end of the year. This total does not included any of the rumored titles

I am currently sitting at 145 "unique" BD Steelbooks in hand. These are the releases from 2007, 2008, and the first 3 quarters of 2009. With 50+ steelbooks coming in the last quarter of 2009, I will add over 33% to my collection by the end of the year. I know the volume will not continue like this but, but even if it was halved, buying 25+ steelbooks every 3 months is just out of control, especially when a good percentage of them are from overseas and easily exceed $50+ CDN by the time I have them in hand.

This my friends is the insanity of OCD Completist collecting

Cheers and welcome to my, and tiger's , nightmare
CrashKelly

I ducked out long ago ... Hence the selling off of the titles I didnt really care too much for after all. Still got a decent few though and am now really picky with the ones I buy ... But like you all, I was going on a tirade there for a short while buying from every damn site you can think of and quite a few from the best seller, jwbbud haha.

I need to start playing a bit of catch up though on a few titles. I havent been in the loop as much and thus http://www.bluraysteelbooks.com has suffered. However, I'm looking to change that. Alot.

... what amazes me is how you guys are able to cover all this not only financially but time wise since you guys must be doing four jobs by now...I'm rooting for you guys though

BTW - do you guys have constant thoughts wondering that may be next year will not be as packed and you could continue your "completist" marathon ... I mean can we expect you guys to pull a Brett Farve in mid 2010 and just try to cover all the ground lost? who will be the first to break?

I don't know how I do it, seriously.
My new years resolution is to stop being a completist and not buying them identical SBs release but who know!

If CrashKelly don't stop I'll have to keep up!

I ain't letting him win...

Yet!

But I truly hope to be able to keep my word on this.

Cheers,
Gui.
