Black Friday; let's see, wake up at the butt-crack of dawn to hunt for a parking space at the mall then have to deal with crazy ass people looking for a bargain then have to wait in a long ass slow moving line to pay for whatever I'm getting. No thank you. I did it once and decided never again. I'm not knocking the logic behind your idea OP and it's a pretty good idea logic wise, but I know for me, I can't do it for the reasons I just said.

It is my belief that Black Friday could be used more as a day to ensure that J6P understands the current situation of the format war to make a better decision if they want to jump into high def for the holiday season. Think about it. Hundreds of people waiting in line for the stores to open. We have a captive audience. Handing out pamphlets and the like could easily convince a few people to go blu. But even if you just enlighten one person, it would be worth the effort.
I understand that some of the less-hardcore members may not want to do this, but I know the Blu-bloods would. We're still a long ways away, but I'm hoping to get people to do something big on Black Friday. We'll see how people feel about it as we get closer. |

Yeah I wont be doing this... For the simple fact that I will buy movies that I want when they come out instead of waiting. If enough people do this, the sales numbers will drop for any time other than these little buy-a-thons happen. Not to mention I wont be stepping foot in a store on Black Friday. Plus I'll already be getting Die Hard that week along with Hairspray...

Yeah but there isn't anything I want so.... And I buy the ones I do want right away. So I still don't see the point. I mean I understand if people have movies they've been meaning to get, this is a good way to get them up off their butts to do it, but I don't have anything I've been meaning to get.

Point is to buy extra movie(s). However, in the end, people just buy movies they want to see which they would eventually buy anyway. Buy-a-thons, for the most part, do not work. A spike one day hurts other days almost any way you look at it.

I will be making a big effort to shop this day. I camped out for the PS3 and one of my favorite past times is just ppl watching. Love watching the idiots and the fighting couples. Plus it will be fun to talk the sleep deprived into buying Blu. I know, I'm evil...

Ah but again this isn't your average buy-a-thon. It is also about all those undecideds staring at the Hi-def. rack wondering which format is better. As we go out and pick up a title or two on this craziest of crazy shopping days we can show them which one is better with our increased shopping presence. Plus from a market share stand point we need this week of all weeks to be a Blu victory. If you don't want to go out on the 23rd don't, this is for those of us that don't mind braving the crazy shopper storm to help support our format. Hell order from Amazon if you must...just make the week of the 23rd our week!!!!!!

Ha that's what I'm talking about right there. We should also be talking about some kind of strategy to hand out fliers to those sleepy shoppers standing in line who haven't quite made up their minds yet. Something, anything to take advantage of all those loose wallets and sleepy souls that just need a little nudge in the right direction.
