It got a 9.5 at Gamespot and IGN. Usually, gamespot is very objective and I usually agree with their reviews. For instance, they gave Heavenly Sword an 8.0 while Ign only gave it at 7.0. Anyways, I'm an ex-360 owner (sh*t broke), and I did manage to play the Halo 3 beta during the summer. To me, the beta was nothing more than Halo 2's multiplayer with some new weapons and slightly better graphics. I wasn't impressed. The reviews are floating in like this game is shiznit, but I am skeptical. Thoughts?

Take all reviews(especially IGN's) with a grain of salt. After all, when it comes down to it, the best reviewer with the clearest judgment on a game or movie is yourself.
Personally, I just use reviews as guidelines and if the material is something that sounds interesting to me, I'll check it out. ![]() |

That's what the review tells me, but I'm not big on the online fragfests. I'm one of the few that enjoys the solo story/campaign and after playing the other two, I'm just underwhelmed by the whole Halo universe. to each his own

The hype inflates the score from what I hear. It's as solid as the previous ones but reviewers are supposedly taking about 10-11 hours to beat it on the 2nd from hardest level... but don't expect short gameplay to knock it down any.

As much as I love the campaign, multiplayer is my thing. I have probably 30-50hrs each week on LIVE. And the only game I play is Halo 2. Nothing else really gets my attention at all.

IGN gave Halo 2 a 9.8 and Gamespot a 9.4 and I thought it blew.
But there are definitely fans so if it does the same as it has in the past they'll probably like it. |

I don't read reviews, especially not from Gamespot as they are extremely biased. Not only the staff but the members. The whole site is bad.
I think people fell in love with the idea of being an owner of Halo, then they fell into the hype. I didn't think any of them were great (they were ok, but nothing I'd ever wait in line for, or pre-order. People are overly obsessed with this game). I'm looking forward to UT much more then Halo 3. |

I don't see why Halo 3 would be multiple disc when the campaign is 4-6 hours according to people/reviews. And I thought Gears was short. Granted that is much better than Halo:CE's approach which is a 4-6 hour cut and past game and the you get to go through it again backwards with the incredibly lame Flood.
2nd disc is probably some bonus stuff. |

The game is 1 disc, the rest are bonus DVDs, and there's another bonus 360 disc in the legendary edition that has HD versions of the cutscenes of all 3 games. They totally cheated everyone though, making us think the helmet they included was wearable size

Games are similar. The new "drug" is fun for a while and it all gets old sooner or later. If I was able to play the orignal DOOM during the golden arcade era of the 1980's, It would have been the better part of a decade before I stopped playing it. Why? Because there was nothing else like it! But it did give way to Duke Nukem 3D which gave way to other 3D shooter hits. Pleasure overload... sooner or later even your favorite games will suck in comparison to the new thing. Even that can suck just from being too familiar. Might be time to crack open the old Monopoly box. |

The review on Yahoo caught my eye and what stuck out to me is where it says:
