I would go with Animal House, with Old School close behind. I've watched them both recently and there isn't a bad scene in Animal House, they're all hilarious. Revenge of the Nerds and Road Trip are also very good, and Van Wilder has it's moments, disgusting as they may be.

This guy is someone who obviously knows alot more about film that you do. You comment on a top 50 and your lucky to have seen half the films at best.. You argue about Alien and what type of film it is AND YOU HAVE NEVER EVEN SEEN THE THING! Now you make a poll that has no "other" button. Someone calls you on it and all you can say is "thats not what I am looking for". There is an underlying theme here! It's not what you say its your attitude, that "I'm right and Your wrong" that just oozes out with every post. Got Em! <----- Yes and that has alot to do with how it comes across.

But I guess I need to learn my lesson and stay out of the movie section of the board. Not much going on in the way of discussing film. Quick...lets do a poll! LoL

I said I wouldnt reply unless needed but I will anyway! U can say what u want about how much u know movies, the fact is it holds no weight to me! The point Im tryin to make is u come in here and reply after reply about the same stuff Ive explained and take away from the thread! For example i dont mind u asking about a movie not listed, however when i answer then leave it at that! Jdiggy made a thread about best director and he left off a couple directors I liked. I brought it up and he explained why and we gave our feedback and that was it!! Nuthin negative or nuthin drawn out all over the thread. thats all Im sayin. This is not about wrong or right man!! U seem to get upset if no one agrees with u!! So thats it man. Hopefully u understand that if not. Im done with it. but if u wanna reply and chop it up about movies then we can speak allday!! Now back to the topic!! Got Em!!

First, about the Czar and Elvis dispute. I think both are wrong here, but for different reasons. I think Czar is wrong in that he made a poll with specific guidelines (which is a good thing), and in his mind it probably made perfect sense to him, but in reality is a bit vague. I think that is what Elvis was getting at--some films seem to qualify that were not listed, but Czar claims they do not fit within his guidelines. This shouldn't really be a means of criticizing one another.

I think Czar could have admitted that his guidelines were a bit vague, and that some films not listed could have qualified, and that he either purposely or negligently left them off the list. I readily admit that the two polls I created had both minor and major films or directors omitted, both purposely and negligently. I actually think it can breed some good discussion though by recognizing an omission, or discussing a director for instance that was not included, who you love (Clive Barker on Czar's case). This is a good thing because everyone likes different genres of film, and it can open up other's eyes to other things.

I do not think Elvis should have gone off the way he did, but I do understand his frustration, because I think Czar instigated it a bit. I agree with him on two points--the first being about Czar commenting on the genre of Alien without having seen it, and the second being about his commenting on the top 50 without seeing most--because the underlying rule of film discussion is to not comment on a film without having seen it. However, I do not think it was right to throw film knowledge in there. To be honest, I think Elvis knows much more about movies based upon the comments I have read, but knowledge isn't what film is about. Film is subjective. Czar has a unique taste in movies and he likes what he likes. Elvis clearly has more knowledge about quality, popular film. Czar has more knowledge on B movies and obscure horror films. Neither is better than the other--it is a matter of taste.

I admit I did not vote in the poll. I do think that Animal House is the pinnacle of college films, despite my reservations about it. In a lot of ways, it started the whole genre. Czar, you are the creator of the poll so you can include what you want. However, you say you did not include How High because it did not deserve to be nominated. I agree, as the movie was complete trash, but so are several of the films listed in the poll. My main problem with the poll is that there is no "other" selection. I do not think a poll is complete without it. I included it in my polls because I realized that there would be films and directors I omitted that people would pick. In doing so, 15-20% of ppl picked that option. To be honest, I liked the fact that a high percentage did so because it really shows the variety of films and directors that people like and it leads to some good discussion.

I think you did omit some major ones, however, with the most notable being PCU. That is inexcusable! Another big one you left off was American Pie 2 (even though it's not one of the classics), which takes place after the first year of college and is as much about college and the changes that are made than any film on the list. I also think the classic film The Paper Chase should have been included. Yes, it is about law school, but graduate school is an extension of college and that film is one of the most realistic portrayals of the college environment ever captured on film.

I do not agree that Good Will Hunting should be included. The film does not involve college very much at all. However, A Beautiful Mind absolutely should have been included, as it deals very much with college and the pressures it has on people. This is a big omission and fits in Czar's guidelines. Based solely on the guidelines he provided, the above films all fit. However, the poll seems to simply include college films about drinking and debauchery, which, let's face it, is a signficant part of college. However, that is not the only part of college and not every college movie has to involve gross out humor. The above films are as much about college as the ones in the poll, and fit within the guidelines.

Not a book??? Haha!! I actually know alot about movies in general but that is neither here nor there. As for the top 50 list! What does that have to do with this at all? We are talkin about college theme films here!! When I gave my opinions of the top 50, obviously the ones I havnt seen i noted that and therefore didnt comment on the movie!! All that means is I havnt seen that film!! there are alot of films Im sure other people havnt seen but that dont make them less knowledgable then me if thats a word!! Haha!! All in all just enjoy the site and from now on if a movie isnt listed in my poll and u feel it qualifies just type it and Ill count the votes for it and well just go from there!! Have fun guys!! Back to the topic!! Got Em!!
