Uh....gee, thanks.
Doesn't matter. They should have been released on Blu-Ray also.

I am still crossing my fingers for a late spring early summer BD release. I still think no matter when the SNOW WHITE bd's were pressed containing the Beauty and the Beast to be released in FALL 2010 preview, I don't think they changed plans that drastically.

also if they were gonna do a theatrical release first as planned then they would have had a trailer for it coming back to theatres. Instd we just get the BD coming FALL 2010

There is no Fantasia trailer on Snow White, this may be because Beauty has been set in stone for so long.

I just wish Disney would clear up the schedule and let everyone know.

I'm assuming that Disney was already debating when to release Beauty and the Beast 3D, and even if they would. At any rate, it's a good thing they didn't spend money on a trailer since it has now been pushed back to December 2011.

I read a post on Ultimatedisney.com from a member who lives in Germany. They called Disney's German division of home entertainment and they were told that Beauty and the Beast would be in the Fall and that Fantasia/Fantasia2000 would be released in December. If this is true, that would be why Beauty and the Beast is listed before Fantasia in the cards that advertise the next releases that come with Snow White. It could also explain why Disney isn't advertising a Spring Diamond Edition on Snow White. But there are many rumors going around, so it's hard to tell what is really going on.

Me too. Disney typically puts out a press release for Platinum/Diamond Editions 6 months in advance, so if there is going to be a Spring release, it should be announced soon and with an actual release date. That would clear a lot of things up.

I also agree---If Disney is going all out, 100% on blu ray---Poppins, Bedknobs and Pete's Dragon should have been released on blu the same day the DVD's came out.

Exactly. I'm a huge fan of all three, but the new bonus features on Mary Poppins and Pete's Dragon were enough to get me to buy them again (not Bedknobs though). The other thing to note about the three recent releases is that Disney didn't do new restorations for them, which I think is another reason why they didn't put them on Blu-Ray. Disney has a really good reputation with their Blu-Rays and if they released these films with restorations from more than 5 years ago (Dragon and Bedknobs were done in 2002), the reviews would be less than stellar.

Plus, I have a feeling they are saving the HD debut of Mary Poppins for the 50th anniversary in 2014.

I would hope that Disney would release a Diamond Edition of The Fantasia Anthology.

There's probably a decent chance that it will be. I'm wondering if the decision to not include one on the Snow White BD is because they are confused as to how they should market it? Since both Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 both come to Diamond Edition Blu-Ray on May 4th, I wonder if they are debating whether or not to do one general add for both or two separate trailers.

Since the Diamond Editions are closely following the release strategy of the Platinum Editions, you should expect The Lion King to be released Fall 2011.

Hoepfulyl when we do get a preview for Fantasia that it is 1080P and represents what the BD will look like. I know previous previews for Sleeping Beauty and now Dumbo has been noted by some to not be the final look of the BD release. (in good ways)

The trailer for Fantasia will most likely not be an accurate representation of how it will look on Blu-Ray because Disney has yet to actually use footage from the upcoming restorations in their trailers. That is why the footage in the Dumbo trailer shouldn't be taken as a sign that the Blu-Ray will look like that. The restoration isn't done yet. Fantasia 2000, on the other hand, will look exactly like it will on Blu-Ray because it was done with the CAPS system and therefore, needs no restoration.

The trailer for Beauty and the Beast is also most likely an accurate representation of what the Blu-Ray will look like, unless Disney decides to put the original theatrical colors on there, which are much darker than the Special Edition that was used to cut the trailer.

Princess and the Frog - Easter
Toy Story - April/May
Toy Story 2 - April/May

So the spring Platinum has to figure in there. You also have the live-sction Nick Cage Sorcerer's Apprentice to pimp...I'm thinking Fantasia will come out in the Fall because it makes more sense to pimp Toy Story 3 in May with the Blu-Rays for TS 1&2, then use Fantasia to pimp the home video release of SA in the fall.

That makes more sense than the "Dick Cook Got Fired so Everything Got Changed Immediately" theory...new rumours state Beauty and the Beast in 3-D has been pushed to a 2011 theatrical release for the 20th anniversary. It wasn't scuttled because of Dick Cook.
Dont forget the Beauty and the Beast: Diamond Edition....

The last I heard, Disney is planning to release Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on Blu-Ray November 2010 when Toy Story 3 comes to Blu-Ray. Not before. They did the same thing when Toy Story 2 came out. They didn't bring the first film to DVD until the same day Toy Story 2 came to DVD. However, I've heard that we should expect to see Finding Nemo on Blu-Ray before Toy Story 3 hits theaters, which will come with movie cash to see Toy Story 3. The DVD of Finding Nemo is still in print so it's a Blu-Ray only release and Disney won't see that as a threat to Fantasia's sales. The Princess and the Frog is coming out in March, almost 2 months before Fantasia. It shouldn't affect Fantasia sales at all. If they were worried about releasing new movies close to old ones, they wouldn't release the Tinker Bell films 3 weeks after the Fall Platinum/Diamond title every year.

And it would actually make more sense to release Fantasia before The Sorcerer's Apprentice hits theaters. That film is going to be a hard sell for a lot of Fantasia fans, so if they put a sneak peak of the movie on the Fantasia Blu-Ray in May, it will give people the chance to warm up to the premise of the film by July. In addition, The Sorcerer's Apprentice will come to Blu-Ray in December 2010, so pushing Fantasia to the Fall wouldn't help them promote the home video release of TSA. They would have to move it to the Winter.

I've decided that since they have not confirmed any dates I still feel Beauty will be a fall release since they need a strong Christmas lead title to sell, (no offense to Fantasia It is my favorite)

I will just keep fingers crossed until they actually announce. No one is for sure at this time anyhow.

Isn't Depp's Alice In Wonderland coming out next year? Any word on the original to tie in?

The film hits theaters in March and the Blu-Ray is expected in August or September. If they are planning a Blu-Ray release of the animated classic to go with it, they will probably start advertising it with Dumbo.

Toy Story 1 & 2 plus Beauty & the Best on bluray next March hopefully or something near then and I'll be a happy man. Oh and please give me a blu ray of Alice in Wonderland. I love that movie, it's the only old Disney film I'm crazy for.

Disney's original goal was to have one major Disney/Pixar title released each month in 2010.

So far no titles for January, but it looks like they are well on their way with the number of titles anticipated for next year.

Dumbo
Princess and the Frog
Finding Nemo
Fantasia
Fantasia 2000
Toy Story 1
Toy Story 2
Toy Story 3
Alice in Wonderland (Burton Version)
Beauty and the Beast
