Searched the forums for this movie and didnt see it. Its based on a novel of the same name. The novel was written by Cormac McCarthy. (He also wrote No Country for Old Men, which was made into a film by the Cohen Brothrs) The road is directed by John Hilcoat and stars Viggo Mortenson and Charlese Theron. I think it looks pretty great. Check it out here:

The book-as with 'no country for old men'-is great.Lovely little morality tale.I am worried though by it starring Mr. Mortensen.But maybe he will redeem his acting record

Definitely will see this.

Im not worried about Viggo. IMO he is one of the best out there.

This movie had been stuck in release hell for over a year.I can't wait for this to finally get release.

No big deal...like mention before its been in release hell since last year and I am sure will see it eventually just not sure when.

Read the book recently. liked it alot.my only real criticism about the upcoming film has nothing to do with the actors, but how it's being advertised. the Charlize Theron character isn't as prevalant as the trailer suggests.anyways,Viggo is the best IMO.it would be sad to see him retire from acting.Doesn't he have to return to the shire first?

He's not retiring. It's been confirmed by him in a recent interview

Viggo is an excellent actor...one of my favs! This movie looks great, I hope it doesn't dissapoint.

I've never heard that one before, he's an Academy Award nominated actor!

Do yourself a favor and watch The Lord of the Rings, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises, and A Walk on the Moon. Viggo Mortenson is one of the best actors working today.

Mortenson is a fantastic actor. Not one of the top 5 working today, but certainly amongst the best. Imo, there really is no argument here.

I read the book and it was incredible....very dark but very moving. I'm a bit worried about how the film is being marketed, with Theron's character getting a lot of screen time (as one poster mentioned), simply because it is not in the book, but I am interested to see how that plays out. Also, the film appears to have a more violent tone than the book, which is worrisome because that does not capture the meaning or intention of the book. At the same time, I am really looking forward to the film and I think that it seems apparent that we'll see it as one of the (excessive) 10 oscar noms next year.

Keep in mind that Hollywood has only recently started to consider the small demograhic that still reads books!lol Anyways, i am looking forward to this film as well.

Praying Duvall not only gets nominated but wins. He deserves another Oscar and he has always been one of my favorites.

I like Duvall too, but wouldn't you like to see his performance before saying something like this?
