I was looking at that this morning, trying to justify waiting any longer (like telling myself that only the inital boxes would have the free discs - who knows). Then I noticed they were gone. Oh well, guess I'm waiting for the second shipment.

I wonder if the second batch of players from places like Crutchfield and Abt that have already sold out of their initial allotments will also contain copy of Eight Below in the box?

Vanns may still have a few of the original batch at list price.

I noticed Vanns is still showing them in stock, but I refuse to pay MSRP. At least Abt has 7% off, which amounts to a hill of beans, but it's still a discount.

I'm hoping some of the hacks listed on www.videohelp.com will work since some of them were just command codes. But I haven't heard of any successes yet.

After reading the last couple of posts and one from Blue,

..since I'm counting , I got curious, and found this:

http://panasonic.com.au/products/det...?objectID=3556

Which has some interesting tidbits and info about frame rates and deinterlacing which sound great. (Except... I don't like the part about 2:2 pulldown being done only for DVDs. What about a High Definition Oklahoma!, shot at 30fps? It would need 2:2 puldown. There's also music videos and animation done at 30fps too, among other things. And what about programs shot on film at PAL rate (25fps), like the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour and Farscape, for example?)

So what do you think about getting the Panasonic over the Sony now that it has been delayed? http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMP-...&s=electronics

There are two 'new and used'. Note that the shipping rate for anything over $999.00 is $300!

Note that the cheapest price is $999.99.

Still cheaper to get it from abt. And about the same as any full retail no tax free ship places.

Only 1 left. I just ordered one. All said and done, it was $1119.97, which is about $100 cheaper than ABT sale. Just a heads up til its gone.

I have set up the Panasonic purchase at my local Magnolia and should receive the unit tomorrow.

I will likely not be able to combine the 10% coupon with the Magnolia Sale price of $1139.98! I did get six months no payments no interest terms though so that is nice.

But I recommend Magnolia with the $1140 price - not sure how long it will last!

Any thoughts on $65 for a 4 year coverage? Standard is one year. Perhaps I will be on to my second player by late 2007

Thumbs up

Sick of waiting for the Pioneer. Just picked up the Panny. Gotta give it 3 thumbs up. If your waiting for the Pioneer, don't bother. Go get one. Only one complaint, it's a little noisy.
