this is really bad if they do drop combo, because it actually helps BD sales, being cheaper, amd free of problem

If you are into real estate, I've got some ocean-front property in Arizona I'm looking to part with.

This is too funny...

Several weeks ago I challenged a certain Insider Movie Reviewer that was posting here that the problems with combo disks were more serious than his suggestion that BD50 yields were a low. He couldn't get any info on the combos...

Fast forward a few weeks, BD50s are still being produced and combos are not. LOL.

Guess he missed this story importance all together....

Agreed. The combos were expensive and defective and were doing their own part in resolving the war but aggrivating HD DUD users.

Still,.. I see this as at least part of the HD DUD format getting dis-continued and it's just tip of the iceburg.

I still wonder about the Trek Box set with a bunch of combos in it... it could well be a disaster for QA.

It will be a shock to me if even 20k Trek boxes get sold. If 10k Trek boxes are sold, then it will be merely a major surprise. 2000-3000 boxes is where I think it will do in week1, and being combos, there's buyers who will cross their fingers when they open the plastic wrap.

I'm sure the reason for dropping the combo has got nothing to do with defects in replication. Regardless of the reason, half of the HD-DVD population will breathe a sigh of relief (no more movies stuck while playing) and the other half is sweating buckets (if HD-DVD fails, no DVD fallback option).
