patelking Member Member since:Jul 2009	When I used the optical connection from my PS3 it would only do 2.1. This was with a Denon 987. Set the PS3 to linear PCM and it will send 5.1 sound over HDMI to your receiver and then the front of your receiver should light up that it is receiving 5.1 also and putting out 5.1
