Default I know this does not belong here... but some good news after the WB letdown...

M$FT seems to have a BIG problem with their new Halo 3 game. Hundreds of posters are reporting problems with Halo 3. It appears that the standard version of Halo 3 has been causing the X-Box 360 to either not play or self-destruct... yes... self-destruct... causing the infamous Red Ring of Death. Some users are complaining that the optical drives cannot read the CD, exchanging the CD does not fix the problem. Other users are reporting that their HDD gets corrupted when playing the game... Callers to M$FT are reporting that M$SFT is looking into the developing problem or getting the runaround.

talk about a major screwup... but hey! it's M$FT, what else can you expect? It's just a SNAFU (Situation Normal, All F***ked Up)...

Well...bash it all you want, but the Halo games are not only this decade's most popular and successful video game franchise, they are also a cultural phenomenon. The third and latest entry to the series is also unanimously reviewed as a hit.

But if finding a reason to bash the game just because it's from Microsoft - a perceived competitor of the Blu-ray format - makes you feel any better, then more power to you.

Don't really see how any Halo 3 issues affect Blu-ray in any way. I'm sure there are many people registered here who bought the game. Personally don't see this as good news.

I'm pretty sure Final fantasy or even metal gear has sold more copies this decade than halo?

uhh... wrong. Madden is the best selling franchise. Halo set the record for release day/week sales. By far not the decades most popular. Perhaps for the xbox but not for gaming in general. Pokemon holds that title.

I like halo, but i think the real reason for it's success is that it was all the xbox had. So, all the xbox fans bought it and it sort of became microsofts mario.

Alot of Xbox's self-destruct, thus the enhanced warranty on them. Don't see how it's necessarily halo's fault. Perhaps more people are playing the new game longer and causing the over-heating.

Personally, I prefer CoD4.

I'm on my 3rd 360, so you're preaching to the choir!

I trully feel that Halo 3 is much improved over halo 2. but my favorite thing about the game is the party system. I honestly believe warhawk is more fun, but halo's matchmaking/party system is better than that of any other game I've played. On the other hand, i can't stand that the game lags/blue screen when someone quits. it's really stupid. warhawk, people jump in and out without bugging anyone.

sorry, Halo is only a phenomenon in US, typical FPS shooter. Please dont assume rest of the gamers from all over the world like those type of games. US is not the only gaming market.

We set up Halo 3 in Best Buy and it wind up not working after awhile. And there have been many returns/exchanges.

Microsoft is a really shotty company, I can't believe the crap they get away with, especially when it comes to releasing stuff without checking out and fixing all kinks.

The Halo 3 disc spins much much faster than Halo 2 or any other disc I've put in the 360, perhaps this is causing the overheating on some. You think the XBOX360 is loud?!?!? You haven't heard anything until you drop that Halo 3 disc in there!!! Sounds like its spinning the disc 2-5 times faster than Halo 2, no joke!

Cultural phenomenon???

A bit too strong of a term, no?

So it's a cultural phenomenon because G4TV says it is? Please.

But, I agree that fanboyism shouldn't deter you from playing Halo3. By most accounts it's an enjoyable game.

I've never liked Halo...tried it once it hit the PC. It's really weak in comparison to most PC fps. For consoles, I'm sure it was something unique to x-boxers who never played a PC fps game.....but revolutionary or a cultural phenomenon? Only thing it had going for it was some of the soundtrack. Halo 2 was worse than the first one. It didn't have anything going for it. It got boring quick. Haven't played Halo 3 to comment on it...but I haven't heard too much to make it sound all that better.

(If I have typoes and poor sentence structure in there somewhere, it is from typing at 2:30am so I apologize ahead of time. lol)
