The scene with Batou and Ishikawa talking about the dog food, Ishikawa says something along the lines of "Dry good has better nutritional value for the dog" and Batou freezes for a moment and then get out of the car without saying a word and no subtitles come up.

Thanks, you are a champion. That sounds like the proper subtitles. I returned that rubbish UK version, and I've ordered the Absolute edition from Japan now. I'm still riled about how badly they screwed it, and I'm unsure why - why they didn't just use their existing DVD subs.
