Where can I find the same numbers for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD combined vs. Standard DVD sales?

What delay-ed titles?

(Sorry I'm not in the know)

I went to the store today and couldn't decide between Halloween or Dracula (love um both and I guess they were both out early but no sign of Silver Surfer yet.) Now, I think I should just save it all up for the 16th,.. does that make any sense?

Gosh, one things clear,..I'm going to have to make choices because too many things I want are getting released. Nice problem to have though.

Going up against NEXT and KNOCKED UP, though, right? We had Underworld and Memoirs (both catalog titles). Hmmm...

I'm going to have to go 60/40. I would have said 59/41 if not for the Blu-ray.com "Warner going Blu exclusive" fiasco.

I really can't see Blu-ray doing any better than this. Knocked Up should do very well for HD-DVD at the B&M level.

I *still* have not managed to find Troy on BD... that's either really bad or really good (sold out everywhere? I've been to 8 stores).

correct.... I still think the number is more than 60. Last week's delayed titles+underworld+memoirs....
personally, I never heard of Next or knocked up, but I've heard of geisha and underworld.

Did you asked the store people. When i went to Best Buy it was on the back, the little high school dipshit was too busy BS with his work pals to do his fracking job . So yeah 6 copies of Troy all in the back go figure. I asked him how long have they been there; "i dunno". Freakind sad i say, just sad.

Looking at the middle figure. it looks scary for HDDVD. If that gets to 70/30 (and it's close) by the end of 2007 (and I think it will) That would be a scary visual for HDDVD exclusive studio's IMO. It looks like pacman getting ready to devour his pellet.

I've heard the same thing but I'm surprized I haven't seen those numbers with all the time I put into investigating the format war.

I'm sure that if the format war ended, there would be a huge improvment for hi-def over DVD... though something tells me DVD would still sick around for wayyy too long even if that did happen.

I personally would like to see the numbers for DVD VS Blu-ray/HD-DVD I know DVD will dominate it, but it'd be interesting to see how how of hold on the market we have as early adopters against DVD, I suspect that after the 4Q Warner will go Blu-ray exclusive (I hope) Universal might follow and HD-DVD will be a slight irritant, like a mosquito bite :P

then we take on our next challenge DVD, tho not exactly an opponent of Blu-ray it's something to look at but TBH once this format war is over, I really don't care about our sales over DVD as long as Blu-ray wins and leads the HD market to success I'll be happy

i don't want to be a killjoy. Early 2007, it was about 68% to BD. varies between 66-67%. So I think it is unlikely, with these 60%+ figure. If we can achieve high 60 or 70, then it's likely.

I love the fact that it indeed looked like pacman (blu-ray) chasing HD DVD

Half full: Blu-ray has maintained a 2:1 advantage all year. And during that time the overall market has done what? On Jan 1 Blu-ray had just taken off. It got another big boost at the end of March when the PS/3 was released in markets outside Japan and NA. And yet another boost when then the PS/3 price cut occurred.

Half empty: HD DVD has maintained hope for its future because it has managed to keep from falling farther behind.

Half full (again): It did so by cutting the price of players to the bone to encourage sales (and sales went WAY up). But, the release of the S300 and the new Panasonic, and the P1200 has caused the BD stand-alones to surpass HD DVD player sales. No matter what HD DVD has done, it hasn't really dented Blu-ray's lead.

Unknown: Will the $199 SRP Chinese HD DVD player(s) have any affect? Or will will the studio situation be a defining characteristic of Q4?

Yes, but how much longer does HD DUD have? That's the immediate question. I suspect at least another year or two

Half Empty: These figures haven't yet been hit by Transformers.

Transformers will sell really well. That being said, I don't think it will have a significant effect on the YTD numbers. Especially since a good chunk of the year has already passed...

Yeh but it'll make the week numbers drop for one week at least. If it goes down pritty bad that'll be a morale-killer. For me anyway.

It will...compared to the number of HD-DVD players out there. But that will also be the limit that will confine it. The Blu-ray potential far surpases the HD-DVD potential market.

So Transformers will do good....for HD-DVD titles. But personaly I dont think it will be able to reach 60% of the sales of "300" on Blu-ray.
