I just bought and SR8002 this summer... took one home to try out for 30 days and ended up keeping it. No problems and very happy with it so far. It's got all I need and is missing some stuff(Pro Logic IIz, Audyssey Dynamic EQ, Dynamic Volume and Bluetooth technology) that newer models have but nothing important to me. I wanted something with good power that had two HDMI outs in case I ever hook up a PJ. This receiver has everything that you mentioned with the power you need but then but so do may others. If a newer 800X model comes out they would probably add whatever the X004 models have added so it depends if you need all that or not.

Yea, I'm looking at Denon too, which appears to have a greater, more updated range of AVR's at this date and time. The Denon 4310ci($2000) seems to be a nice unit. The Denon Link option(ver 4 now) it has also seems like a plus, but whether or not that's really effective at reducing jitter OR just a marketing ploy is something to look into. Anybody have experience with Denon Link? If I go the Denon route, I would probably also go with the DBP-4010UDCI(universal player which also has Denon Link v4). That would allow me to use a one player solution for DVD/Blu-ray/SACD/DVD-A.
Actually, in another option, I could keep my older 7.1/non-HDMI Marantz AVR and if I'm not mistaken, simply buy a new Blu-ray universal player like the upcoming Marantz UD-8004 OR the above mentioned Denon universal player and simply have them decode the audio and send it out via 7.1 analog to my old receiver, while sending the video via the players HDMI directly to the screen.
